The project recently won Best Multi-Unit Development at the Master Builders-Bankwest Excellence in Construction Awards. This is a great achievement, especially considering that when Rondo were approached by contractor, Metrex, to assist with Latitude’s wall and ceiling design, it was only 70% design ready leaving Rondo the task to finish the remaining 30% requirements.

Occupying a 2134m2 block of premium land, Leopold residential apartments is one of the newest commercial/residential developments in Melbourne’s residential and business district. The project involved the internal demolition of existing commercial fit out, the construction of an additional six levels and the fit-out of 174 residential apartments as well as four office tenancies. The works undertaken comprised of a new wall facade, the attachment of 97 new balconies to the existing structure, and installation of a structural steel transfer level with lightweight floor system (Powerscope).

Rondo provided a solid support foundation, using resources from both international and Australian technical services departments. The South West Pier (Stage 1), was built by Rachana Arts and saw Rondo provide assistance for the Corian cladding to the columns by creating adjustable and concealed fixings that were purposely designed for the hollow section support framing, as well as providing Stud and Track to support the various cladding materials.

The new Royal Adelaide Hospital (newRAH) is a significant project for Rondo, with our Engineering team providing extensive design support and developing innovative system solutions for over two and a half years prior to the commencement of construction. Now with construction underway, Rondo has continued to play a major role, supporting site contractor, Brighton Australia, with the design and manufacture of products that meet the projects’ ‘Category 4’ design requirements, which includes specifications for Seismic designs.
No.1 Collins Wharf, VIC

No 1. Collins Wharf is the latest part of the $1.2 billion development of the Victoria Harbour precinct. The 29-level apartment complex, built by Lend Lease and designed by Architectural firm, Bates Smart was completed in September this year and boasts 321 water-lined apartments and townhouses. Expoconti were awarded the wall and ceiling contract for the $106M development and soon after contacted Rondo to supply systems for the external walls, external cladding and internal suspended ceiling system.

Ocean Keys is a major shopping destination in Clarkson, one of Perth’s new fast growing suburbs. This $100 million expansion completed in October 2014 included the addition of retail and fresh food stores and new residential apartments. The shopping complex is now 65% larger with a total floor space of 35,000m². Rondo supplied Key-
Lock Concealed Ceiling System and steel framing for the extensive plasterboard soffits and bulkheads on the project.

The entire building also featured ceilings acoustically isolated from the old structure where heavy duty isolators were required to be incorporated into the Rondo KEY-LOCK Concealed Suspension System. Similarly Rondo had to design a supplementary suspension system beneath these ceilings to accept a secondary system to support some services and particularly architectural feature ceiling beneath.

Perth’s first and only carrier-neutral colocation Data Centre is designed and built with the latest data centre technologies to promote continuity for energy-efficient technology and security. P1’s construction timeline estimated 15 months to completion, allocating time for design reviews and adjustments.The initial door framing sections specified in the design plans were reviewed for the project’s construction.

Due to tight plenum space and extremely congested plenum areas, Rondo’s new Xpress Drywall Grid System was the ideal ceiling system to use. This maximised the ceiling heights in all guest rooms while offering compliant plenum vertical clearances. Contractors implemented Rondo’s intricate feature ceilings and bulkheads throughout the entire building, such areas included the lobby, restaurants and conference areas.

The project required both Seismic design for the ceilings and special wind designs for the external framing.

The project consists of over 30,000 lineal metres of 92 1.15bmt lipped studs used for the external wall system and over 45,000 lineal metres of 64mm 0.50bmt lipped studs for the internal walls.

Inspired by water droplets in the wild, the POD Pavilion showcases the new sustainable urban development located in Petaling Jaya Commercial City, west of Kuala Lumpur.
Designed by Hijjas Kasturi Associates in collaboration with Studio Nicoletti Associati (Italy), the POD Pavilion is now PJCC’s corporate office and sales gallery.
Rondo provided both product and design assistance to the project, which required a significant amount of input because of its unique elliptical design.

QT Hotel Perth, WA

For instance, the guest room ensuite walls were mainly comprised of glazed aluminium panels made overseas. Unfortunately, this meant there were minimal tolerances in the set-out. Yet, because the hotel floors were generally the same layout, Rondo created a template system for setting out most of the guest rooms while also ensuring that ceiling heights were set exactly.

Working alongside Kyren Group, Ceiling Express and Cheesman Architects, Rondo delivered frequent technical design support, as well as stock level forecasting which was imperative to control the crane lifts.

Our technical designs specified wall and ceiling systems, as well as complementary accessories to be supplied to the project. Expoconti and Rondo, along with the project architects, Lysons Architects and builder, Brookfield Multiplex, combined their expertise to ensure the design and construction of the RMIT Swanston Academic Building (SAB) offers a higher quality and innovative learning experience for students. To achieve this, the newly launched Rondo MAXIframe External Wall Framing System was specified, with Rondo MAXIjamb designed for installation around door jambs and internal window openings. This meant Expoconti could save time on site as MAXIjamb replaces the necessity for multiple stud configurations, as well as offering greater performance capacities than traditional wall stud framing.
RNA Showgrounds, QLD
