OVERVIEW
The Lindley Park residential project by Miller Homes in Huddersfield was developed with superior ground protection against radon.
Leading house builders Miller Homes constructed a development of flats and two- to five-bedroom homes on a former flax field on the north-west edge of Huddersfield, West Yorkshire. Specialist installers of gas barrier membranes and waterproofing tanking systems, SPS Substructure Protection Ltd, chose the heavy-duty radon barrier, Powerbase Low Perm, as the best ground barrier solution.
Produced by Industrial Textiles & Plastics Ltd (ITP) of North Yorkshire, Low Perm is independently tested for permeation rates to EN ISO 15105-1, the internationally recognised standard.
“Our expertise in gas and chemical resistant technology, developed over more than 25 years, means we can provide the right solution for any installation,” said Paul Harrison, ITP’s geomembrane technical advisor. “We developed Powerbase LowPerm, which is BBA certified, as a heavy duty, strong membrane providing protection against radon, as well as low levels of methane and CO2. Much more robust than typical radon barriers, it is preferred by installers because it can be welded for more complete protection.”
In addition to the Powerbase range of gas barrier membranes, ITP also produces advanced building membranes and temporary containment materials, with specialist expertise in flame retardant technology.
