OVERVIEW
The Mater Misericordiae University Hospital’s new Rock Wing is a nine-storey, €103 million facility developed to address Ireland’s urgent healthcare needs. Constructed under emergency legislation during the COVID-19 pandemic, this fast-tracked project delivers state-of-the-art care for up to 5,000 additional patients annually.
Construction Specialties (CS) supplied a wide range of Acrovyn wall protection solutions to prevent impact damage and increase the longevity of various hospital areas. This includes HRB-50N hand/crash rails and SCR-80 crash rails for circulation corridors, SSM-20 corner guards and Acrovyn PVC-Free Sheet for the protection of high-impact areas, as well as BL-10V bed head protectors in single-bed ensuite rooms. Stainless steel floor-mounted low-level rails, installed around reception desks, offer additional impact resistance. These measures ensure the Rock Wing’s resilience, functionality, and aesthetic appeal.
