Curved Play Pods Crafted for Fun and Sustainability with Accoya

Accoya wood was selected as the ideal material for the striking curved Play Pod structure in a playground in Sydney. Accoya was chosen for its superior stability, durability, and sustainability. The structure, built using 196 lineal metres of Accoya, utilized a glulam process where the wood was sliced into lamellas, glued, and clamped into the specified radius. Finished with Osmo UV Protection Oil 420 Clear Satin, the Play Pod not only delivers on aesthetics but also performs exceptionally in harsh outdoor conditions.

With Accoya’s 50-year guarantee and its low environmental impact, the project achieved a 6 Star Green Star Design rating by the Green Building Council of Australia, exemplifying world-leading sustainable design.
