The Project:

Holloway Head is a landmark Build-to-Rent (BTR) scheme situated in Birmingham, designed to deliver 484 high-quality apartments across four multi-storey blocks ranging from 8 to 14 storeys. This ambitious development is part of a broader initiative to address the growing demand for premium urban rental properties while transforming a previously derelict 1.4-acre brownfield site in Birmingham City Centre. By breathing new life into this area, Holloway Head plays a pivotal role in urban regeneration, creating a vibrant, sustainable, and community-focused living environment for its residents. The project combines modern architectural design with cutting-edge amenities to meet the expectations of contemporary renters, setting a new benchmark for BTR developments in the region.

Winvic Construction approached The Safety Letterbox Company to deliver a bespoke mail and parcel solution for the development. Recognising the importance of secure and efficient mail and parcel management in a modern BTR scheme, Winvic sought a partner who could design, manufacture, and install a system that not only met the functional requirements of the development but also aligned with its high-end aesthetic and operational standards. This collaboration was critical in ensuring the project’s success and enhancing the overall living experience for residents.

The Challenge:  

Delivering a project of this scale and prestige came with several intricate challenges. One of the primary issues was the need to allocate adequate space for mail and parcel management systems to serve 484 apartments. This had to be done while adhering to the spatial limitations of the development, ensuring the solution was both efficient and seamlessly integrated into the overall design.

Another significant challenge involved coordinating with a diverse group of stakeholders, including the client (Winvic), architects (Corstorphine & Wright), and the design team. This required close collaboration to ensure that the solution aligned with their collective vision and met the project’s functional and operational requirements.

Additionally, the mail and parcel systems needed to complement the sleek and modern aesthetics of the development. Balancing visual appeal with durability and functionality was crucial to maintaining the high standards expected of a landmark BTR project like Holloway Head.

Finally, the solution had to address the security and usability needs of the residents while ensuring operational efficiency for the management staff. This required innovative features that provided ease of access, enhanced security, and robust tracking capabilities for deliveries.

Our Solution:

To address these challenges, The Safety Letterbox Company designed and delivered a bespoke solution tailored to the unique requirements of Holloway Head. The myRENZbox Intelligent Parcel Lockers were a central part of the solution, providing residents with a secure, convenient, and contactless system for parcel delivery and collection. These advanced lockers are equipped with the latest technology, designed to handle high delivery volumes efficiently while ensuring ease of use for all residents.

In addition to the parcel lockers, we supplied and installed Steel 2 Mailboxes, known for their robustness and versatility. These mailboxes were configured in an in front/out front setup to accommodate the spatial constraints of the development. Their durable construction ensures long-lasting performance, even in high-traffic environments, making them an ideal choice for a development of this scale.

To enhance security and operational efficiency, a smart key system was incorporated into the solution. This system allows management staff to access the parcel lockers with a full audit trail, ensuring accountability and providing an additional layer of security for residents’ deliveries. This feature enhances trust and reliability in the mail and parcel system.

The installation was carefully planned to maximise space efficiency and align seamlessly with the overall design of the development. A combination of free-standing and wall-recessed configurations was used, ensuring that the mail and parcel systems integrated harmoniously into the architectural layout. The units were finished in RAL 9016 Traffic White Matt, chosen to complement the modern aesthetics of the development and create a cohesive, visually appealing environment.

Throughout the project, we maintained close collaboration with Winvic and the design team to ensure that all technical and aesthetic requirements were met.
