OVERVIEW
Situated in the Cotswolds market town and civil parish of Minchinhampton, sits this detached, four-bedroom property known as Lower Peaches Farm.
Bryan Roe, KEIM’s Senior Sales Executive, visited the property in March 2024 and reported the elevations were made up of layers of limewash on roughcast lime render. The limewash had started to wear after a couple of years and the owners preferred a solution that would offer improved longevity.
The render was in good condition, so it was recommended to remove as much of the limewash as possible as part of the preparation.
Following recent wet weather, algae and moss had become more apparent on the surfaces. Fortunately, removal is straightforward using a mild detergent and reoccurrence can be prevented by treating surfaces with fungicidal primer, KEIM Algicid-Plus, 24 hours prior to paint application.
The high porosity of lime render needed to be equalised without compromising breathability before painting. KEIM Granital Dilution was applied to prepare the surfaces. A two-coat KEIM Granital system was then applied to create a lightfast, breathable finish that is sufficiently durable to last for decades without the need for redecorating.
The owners completed the front elevation in 2024 and were so delighted with the results that they decided to decorate the back and side elevations too in June 2025. As testament to the refurbishment, the owners have referred KEIM to their nearby neighbours.
