OVERVIEW
As part of the new housing development by Urban & Civic, Priors Hall Park Village Green has unveiled a Timberplay playground, marking the first leisure-focused space in Phase 2 of this expanding community.
Created to be a focal point for community life, this playground invites children to explore, socialise, and play freely in a secure outdoor setting, promoting more outdoor activity—a priority in an age where indoor screens have become the norm.
CREATING A PLAY SPACE INCLUSIVE TO EVERYONE
The playground incorporates a range of equipment thoughtfully designed with inclusivity and accessibility at its heart. Among the engaging features are wheelchair-friendly play apparatus, table tennis, a ball labyrinth (a dynamic moving table game aimed at guiding a ball into the goal), and tic-tac-toe stations. Additionally, climbing structures, slides, swings, and roundabouts add a wealth of variety and challenge for children of all ages. Surrounding the play space, designated seating areas offer parents and carers a comfortable spot to supervise and connect.
INCLUDING AESTHETIC AND DURABLE MATERIALS
Constructed predominantly from robust mountain larch timber, Timberplay’s hallmark material, the playground equipment showcases a commitment to sustainable and durable design. This selection not only aligns with Timberplay’s ethos but also enhances the natural aesthetic of the Village Green, integrating beautifully with the surroundings. Beyond just play, this project is about fostering community interaction, providing a lively, safe, and inviting environment where children and families can gather and grow together. The Village Green playground serves as a model for the essential role leisure spaces play in housing developments, highlighting the importance of material quality, inclusive play value, and community cohesion.
