WestWood Wecryl PMMA Warm Roof, Broadrayne

OVERVIEW

The new roof was installed in conjunction with the local joiner and builder. Starting in the summer months some of the existing stonework was removed to allow the extension to be built. Once in place, stage one of the waterproofing was installed. The cavity was blocked off before the Wecryl waterproofing was installed over the cavity and onto the inner skin of the building and 100mm down the face of the blockwork. This then allowed the Lakeland stonework to be reinstated. The new timber joists were then installed with timber firings creating the fall of the roof and a new plywood structural deck. Once set up a new foil faced vapour control layer was applied prior to the fitting of the 120mm foil faced PIR insulation which was fixed into place using 18mm T&G OSB board, this allowed the roof to be formed perfectly flat. The Wecryl waterproofing was then installed. Due to the seamless nature of Wecryl PMMA the new waterproofing was connected to the existing waterproofing through the cavity and left the client with a system free from any joints or weak points.

Once complete the project was left while the joiners installed the cedar cladding and powder coated drip trims. Once complete the Wecryl PMMA was then installed and encapsulated the parapet, joining the trim to the main roof. Due to the Wecryl PMMA’s self-terminating properties the waterproofing could be terminated on the leading edge of the trim to give the client a clean finish he required.
