Summary
Cavity barrier for timber frame party wall junctions
Cavity barrier for timber frame party wall junctions
Application

For sealing edge of party wall cavity.

For sealing edge of party wall cavity.

Description

T-Barrier that achieves a zero U-value at the party wall junction by sealing the party wall cavity. This minimises the effect of thermal bypass as well as reducing flanking noise in the cavity.

It provides a one-hour fire integrity at the party wall junction and meets the Robust Detail's requirement for a barrier where a separating party wall meets an external cavity wall, significantly reducing sound transmission along the cavity.

It is easily installed as the timber frame is erected.

Polythene flanges are present to allow the barrier to be stapled back to the timber while the brickwork progresses, when a compression fit ensures that the barrier stays in place. For runs of more than 1.2 m, lengths should be butted tightly together, with care taken to ensure that there are no gaps.

Features and benefits:

  • Up to one hour fire integrity.
  • Seals edge of party wall cavity.
  • Zero U-Value at party wall can be achieved.
  • Up to three times more effective as an edge seal than conventional systems.
  • Reduces flanking noise.
  • Minimises thermal bypass.
  • Easy to install.
  • Third-party certificated by IFC.
