Description

The Snaplock ® standing seam system is extensively used in Europe and the United States of America, where the system has proved itself in the extremely varied climate. The system gives an aesthetically pleasing finish whilst avoiding the industrial finishes found in other seam systems.

It is available in two finishes, Pro is a smooth finish and Pural offers a subtle dappled effect.

Pro (Smooth finish) is the finish to be used when applying thin film solar photovoltaics directly to the surface.

Features and benefits:

  • Manufactured from lightweight (350 g/m² zinc coated) corrosion resistant steel.
  • Material - A1 Fire rated.
  • CWCT versions available in S280 grade material (see separate NBS).
  • Ultraviolet (UV) light and scratch resistant.
  • Seams are available in 25 or 38 mm formats.
  • GreenCoat ® colour coated steel products from SSAB Swedish Steel use Swedish rapeseed oil in the coating, producing a sustainable colour coated steel for exterior buildings. The patented BT coatings (Bio-based Technology) offer environmental advantages (100% recyclable) and increased performance.
  • Solar - can be used with thin film solar photovoltaics - speak to Metal Solutions for more information.
  • The Snaplock ® seam system can be laid on a ventilated timber substrate, composite panel or direct on insulation, using special warm roof fixing clips.
  • Snaplock ® is much simpler and requires less skill/ hand tools than the traditional standing seam. The profile contains an undercloak and an overcloak – the undercloak side is fixed with a stainless steel fixing clip with the overcloak side then snapped into place.
  • The system can be provided as a complete roof kit including all flashing, matching rainwater products and ancillaries.
  • Also available in GreenCoat ® S280 commercial grade steel.
  • Solar specification also available for use with thin film solar photovoltaics. In this instance the PRO version must be used. Contact Metal Solutions for more information.

Protective Finishes:

Greencoat steel is protected with a zinc coating before being finished with the final BT finish.

The zinc coating (Z, 100 – 350 g/m2) is lead free and has a

minimum zinc content of 99 %. This protects the steel from

corrosion in two ways. It is a protective layer keeping oxygen and water away from the steel, but it also acts as a cathodic protection. This means that at cut edges or in case of damages through the zinc coating, the zinc will sacrifice itself and react to form protective compounds and block further corrosion processes.

Substructure:

Snaplock® can be mounted on all roof build-ups, the only pre-requisite being that it is fully supported.

Suitable substructure materials:

  • Ventilated 18 mm-thick weather and boil proof (WPB) plywood.
  • Ventilated oriented strand board OSB3.
  • Composite panel.
  • Rigid insulation.
  • Profiled metal deck.

Underlay:

ISO-Mat Pro® underlay is recommended for cold roof applications.

ISO-Mat Metal® underlay is recommended for warm roof applications.
