Application

Cavity wall lintels are a type of lintel designed to support the loads above the openings in cavity walls. These lintels support the inner and outer leaf of masonry along with other loads present above while bridging the wall cavity.

  • Triangulated masonry load.
  • Supporting uniformly distributed masonry load.
  • Supporting uniformly distributed timber floor and roof loads.
  • Suitable for fair faced inner leaf masonry.
  • Supports concrete floors.
  • Attic truss loads.
  • Larger span multiple truss loads.

Description

Cavity wall lintels provide structural support for each masonry leaf and can be securely positioned across the cavity as a one-piece solution. The outer and inner leaves are connected by a single piece of steel extending from the front to the back.

Catnic cavity wall lintels come with CFC and HCFC-free insulation, shaped to optimise thermal performance along the entire length, preventing ‘cold spots’.

Catnic offers over 80 cavity lintels for 50-205mm cavities with varying load capacities.

Catnic produce a range of open back cavity wall lintels, suitable for the following cavity sizes:

  • 50–65 mm,
  • 70–85 mm,
  • 90–105 mm,
  • 110–125 mm,
  • 130–145 mm,
  • 150–165 mm.

Lintel features and benefits:

  • Extra heavy duty.
  • Easy-to-use open back profile: Allows masonry to be built up continuously on both outer and inner leaf.
  • Materials used in Lintels: The CG, CH and CX ranges are formed from galvanized steel, then powder coated.
  • Duplex corrosion protection: Ensures optimum durability and longevity.
  • Built-in DPC: Saves time in construction and means cavity is easy to clean without risk of damage to DPC.
  • Integral Plaster key: With staggered slots applied to the inner flange and ribbed underside of insulation (perforated steel baseplate on CH and CX range).
  • Continuous insulation: Maximising thermal efficiency, minimizing cold bridging.

Lintel Safe Working Loads (SWL) and weight are dependent on lintel's length.
