The cylindrical head screw with fixing thread.
Features and benefits:
The special power drive – T-STAR plus – is a so-called hexalobular socket. Compared to less precise drive types such as Philips or Phillips, the contact surface of T-STAR plus is significantly larger, and the T-STAR plus bits always fit perfectly in the screw head. The resulting optimal, precise power transfer from screwdriver to screw with the T-STAR plus enables simple and extremely fast work, and is significantly more efficient than with any other drive.
In contrast to the flat head, which transfers the tensile forces of the screw across a larger area of the wood via its large underside, the narrow cylinder head does not have to fulfil this task at all. With its size, which only provides space for the force application with T-STAR plus , the cylinder head can be completely countersunk into the wood, thus offering the possibility of creating largely invisible screw connections very easily. The tensile forces acting on a screw in timber construction are completely transferred into the wood via the full thread of the cylinder head screw. If cylinder head screws are installed horizontally - for example as decking screws on a wooden terrace - they must only be screwed in flush with the surface to prevent water from collecting in the screw hole and damaging the wood.
The fixing thread on some SPAX screws is a two-part thread. It consists of a main thread that engages the substructure and a subhead thread. This subhead thread, separated from the main thread by a short section of smooth shank, ensures that the deck board is securely held to the substructure under all weather conditions. The smooth shank between the threaded sections absorbs the movement of the plank.
The CUT tip of SPAX screws allows for extremely fast and effective screwing in of wood screws without pre-drilling. The arrow-shaped CUT tip, combined with the wave profile, reduces splitting and cracking of the wood. Furthermore, the CUT tip enables very precise and non-slip
The abbreviation A2 for our stainless steel screws comes from the steel's alloy. ‘A’ stands for "austenite," a mixture of iron, carbon, and the alloying elements chromium, nickel, and molybdenum. The 2 (1-5) indicates the alloying grade, i.e., the chromium and nickel content.
A2 stainless steel screws offer high corrosion protection and medium strength. However, their resistance to seawater and acids is low. They are therefore used outdoors in areas far from the coast, where they provide long-lasting, reliable service.
