Description

Metal Technology’s 5-35D Hi/ Hi+ door suite has been developed with a diverse range of profile and hardware options, encompassing multi-point locking, panic exit and security offering flexible design solutions.

Bespoke injected mouldings, thermal isolators, and insulation combined with glass selection also offers the ability to achieve Passive House performance levels. The high performance 5-35D Hi+ door system complies with the following standards: BS 6375, PAS 24 and is acoustically tested in accordance with BS EN ISO 140-3 and BS EN ISO 717-1.

Certified Passive House Component - Metal Technology’s 5-35D Hi+ System has been assessed by the Passive House Institute for cool, temperate climate zones, and met all component criteria necessary to achieve certification. The door U-values were calculated for the test door size of 1.1 x 2.2 m with a 0.5 W/m²K insulated glass unit. When higher thermally performing insulated glass units are used, the door U-values should also improve.

Features and benefits:

  • Profiles are extruded from aluminium alloy (6060 T6, T5 or T4 to BS EN 12020-2/ BS 755-9) and with polyamide thermal break sections manufactured from glass reinforced nylon sections capable of withstanding temperatures in excess of 200°C. Outer frame sections are a minimum of 75 mm deep incorporating two 35 mm polyamide thermal break sections within the door profiles.
  • Joints in outer frame and vent members are formed with 45 degree mitres, reinforced with extruded aluminium cleats and stainless steel corner braces. Corner joints are secured by pneumatic crimping. Mullions and transoms are secured using stainless steel screws driven into integral screw ports within the sections: additional cruciform cleats are used where required. Joints are sealed using a small gap sealant.
  • Doors incorporate an internal pressure equalized drainage system with external ‘snap-on’ cover caps.
  • With suitable glazing, doors can contribute to meeting the requirements of Building Regulations for conservation of heat and power.
  • The doors provide Class IV weathertightness as defined by BS 6375-1:
    • Air Infiltration BS EN 1026: Class 4.
    • Watertightness BS EN 1027: Class 9a.
    • Wind Resistance BS EN 12211: E2400.
  • Design wind pressure to be determined in accordance with BS 6399-2.
  • System 5-35D Hi / Hi+ has passed PAS 24 "Enhanced Security Performance Requirements for door Assemblies" as generally accepted on Secure by Design projects. To conform, the door must be in accordance with the samples tested, with ironmongery options as detailed in section 3 of the technical manual.
  • The range of sections can be provided in either of the following range of finishes:
    • Anodized to BS EN ISO 7599 or BS 3987.
    • Powder organic coated to BS EN 12206-1.
  • Where a different colour is required internally and externally, Metal Technology can accommodate this.
  • Door sashes are internally beaded and can accommodate glazing units from 28 mm to 65 mm. Integral fanlights and sidelights may be internally or externally beaded and can accommodate glazing units from 28 mm to 55 mm. Glass is set against co-extruded gaskets externally which are fitted into gasket grooves in the frame upstand. Clip in beads are then fitted to the inside of the frame and held secure by means of colour coded wedge gaskets internally.
  • Different door configurations, ironmongery selections and options are available and consultation between the commissioned Design Team and Metal Technology’s Regional Architectural Advisor on all ironmongery options is advised.
  • In commercial applications, Metal Technology’s thermally broken low rise ramped threshold detail is utilized. All threshold bars are suitable for wheelchair access.
