Description

Stainless steel countersunk screw with universal applications.

Features and benefits:

  • The screw with universal applications and corrosion protection for damp/ wet areas or outdoor use.
  • No rust marks.
  • Long-lasting.
  • T-STAR plus bit recess.
  • Pre-drilling recommended.
  • 4CUT point (applies to sizes of 3.5 mm and above) ensures safe fastening with low effort, reduces splitting of the wood and reduces the screwing-in torque required.
  • Quick and safe fastening.
  • Mills into the wood - stops on metal.
  • Countersinks easily.
  • Fix close to an edge.

This special drive is a so-called hexalobular internal. Compared to less precise-fitting drive types like Phillips or cross recess, the contact surface is many times larger with T-STAR plus, and the T-STAR bits are always positioned optimally in the screw head. The maximum, precise force transmission from the screwdriver to the screw that results from the use of T-STAR plus thus enables simple and ultra-fast work with much more efficiency than with other drives.

Installing window and door frames with plastic and aluminium profiles calls for a head shape that can withstand high pulling forces whilst not being too thick. SPAX’s flat countersunk head ticks both boxes. It finds its place on our SPAX-RA full-thread screw, which is used for the plug-free fastening of window and door frames. The T-STAR plus drive takes care of force application.

  • In principle, all SPAX screws can be organised into two groups: screws with partial thread and screws with full thread. Screws with partial thread are ideal for fastening components like engineered wood boards, panels, floorboards and even squared timbers on load-bearing components like stud framing or posts (in this case, with our HI.FORCE). While the thread makes its way through the load-bearing component, the thread-free shank of the partial thread screw should pull all the way through the top attachment. When the screw is inserted further, the screw head pulls the upper component onto the lower one. By inserting the screw, maximum contact pressure is therefore created between the two components. This effect is ideal when the thread-free shank has at least the same thickness as the attachment.
  • The term 4CUT is used to describe the fact that the point of SPAX screws is not rounded, but rather shaped like an arrow. These four edges displace the wood fibres upon insertion and thus create space for the core diameter of the screw. The otherwise inevitable expansion at the core of the wood is effectively reduced, minimising wood splitting around the edges. The required cordless screwdriver torque is also reduced, since the screw core no longer needs to "squeeze" into the wood.
  • With SPAX stainless-steel screws, the abbreviation A2 refers to the alloy of the steel. "A" stands for austenite, a mix of iron and carbon with the alloying elements chrome, nickel and molybdenum. The 2(1-5) describes the alloy grade, in other words, the chrome and nickel content. Screws made of stainless steel A2 offer a high level of protection against corrosion and medium strength, However, they have low resistance to saltwater and acids. They are therefore a reliable, durable choice for outdoor applications in non-coastal areas.
