ARC 500, the largest distribution and production unit in Merseyside, is a new 494,750 sqft facility designed to accommodate large-scale logistics operations. The selection of Building Systems UK products Trisobuild® was driven by the projects aims of significant environmental, social and governance credentials, to achieve Net Zero Carbon in construction, BREEAM Excellent and EPC A.As the key supplier for the ARC 500 project, Building Systems UK, provided a complete building envelope solution. This included Trisobuild® site assembled roof and wall systems featuring a newly developed profile specifically designed for the office areas of the building.Trisobuild® site assembled roof and wall systems are independently tested and accredited, for thermal performance, fire safety, air tightness, resistance to water penetration and acoustic and structural performance. They are supported by Environmental Product Declarations (EPD) and are comprehensively guaranteed through Platinum Plus and Confidex for periods up to 40-years. A principle benefit for this project was the location of Building Systems UK’s manufacturing facility in Shotton, North Wales, just 15 miles from the ARC 500 project site, showcasing commitment to local procurement and material supply. This proximity not only bolstered the local economy but also significantly reduced delivery emissions, aligning with the project sustainability goals. To further decrease carbon emissions and support the transition to net-zero construction, freight deliveries for the project were conducted using bio-fuelled vehicles.

To deliver a high-performing and resilient building envelope, a combination of 2,000m2 of Trisomet® external trapezoidal insulated roof panel system and 1,200m2 of Trimapanel® architectural wall panel system was specified for this Wickes Retail Store in Torquay.This comprehensive envelope solution is supported by Building Systems UK’s Platinum® Plus system guarantee, offering 25 years of assured performance covering durability, structural and thermal performance - across all system components, which was a functional requirement of the project.The Platinum® Plus guarantee ensures long-term, reliable performance with reduced operational and maintenance costs for the life of the building. Furthermore, the guarantee is fully transferable, providing added value and assurance for future building owners.A combination of Albatross Grey, White and Midnight Blue Colorcoat HPS200 Ultra® coating was used to align with the Wickes’ highly recognisable company branding. This coating system carries the Confidex® Guarantee, of up to 40 years, offering exceptional corrosion resistance and colour retention, even with a roof mounted PV system.In addition to the requirements of thermal efficiency and durability, fire performance was a critical element of the development and with Trisomet® and Trimapanel® independently tested and certified by both Loss Prevention Certification Board (LPCB) and Factory Mutual (FM Global) further demonstrated the compliance and robust performance credentials of the Building Systems UK product range.
