Tobermore Deliver Striking Finish for New Business Quarter in Leatherhead.Tobermore provided HLM Architects with a variety of paving products that were used to create the striking landscape at The Square, an exciting business quarter in Leatherhead, Surrey. The Square comprises four impressive office buildings that total 68,851 sq. ft. in size and the project is the first development in the South East to achieve an EPC A rating.Joe Harries, Associate at HLM Architects, explained that his aim in designing The Square was “to create a contemporary office environment within a high quality and attractive landscape setting.”Joe commented that different hard landscaping solutions were considered for the project but paving was chosen as the superior solution:“We were looking for a range of quality products that were robust, aesthetically pleasing and cost effective, and we found that Tobermore were ahead of their peers in this area of the market.”Joe Harries, Associate at HLM ArchitectsIt was these factors that convinced HLM Architects to specify Tobermore Manhattan, Sienna Duo and Shannon Duo block paving products in creating a high quality finish for the site.Manhattan is a plank paving product that is manufactured with a granite aggregate surface layer that produces a sparkling finish, similar to natural granite.Manhattan mixed length units were selected in the colours of Silver, Mid Grey and Graphite for the main area on site. This signature blend is part of Tobermore’s Constellations and has been named ‘Pavo’. Discover more about Tobermore’s Constellations. Similar to Manhattan, Sienna Duo is manufactured with a granite aggregate surface layer. Sienna was installed in the rich colour of Sandstone on the parking bays, creating a striking, modern look alongside Manhattan.Shannon Duo in the warm, blended tones of Heather was installed on the walkways surrounding the four office buildings on site. In contrast to the other Tobermore products specified, this product is manufactured with a smooth surface layer that is ideal for pedestrian use and wheeled traffic.Joe explained the design concept developed with Tobermore products: “The colour, texture and unit sizes were varied to create unique character and function to the main circulatory and recreational spaces, providing a strong sense of arrival leading up to the central square that forms the heart of the development.“Conceptually, we tried to create a contemporary, inspiring and inviting centralised hard landscaped amenity enclosed by both proposed and existing soft landscape infrastructure. This formal epicentre is the main focus of the scheme, with a large and striking public art feature, high quality paving, seating and subtle lighting. From this the landscape character gradates out to the informal and ecologically enhanced edges of the site, with extensive amenity planting used to break up the car parking areas in between.”Reflecting on the result of project, Joe commented; “The hard landscaping products used worked well and we were extremely pleased with the service provided by Tobermore. For good quality concrete and granite aggregate paving, Tobermore must be considered as one of the market leaders in terms of quality of product, service and competitiveness.”

The Woodlands is a housing scheme from Willmark Homes that consists of eight beautiful six-bedroom detached properties. With an enviable reputation for building quality homes across the East Midlands, Willmark Homes wanted to ensure that this scheme was designed and built to the high standard of existing projects both internally and externally. The developer faced issues with the external areas at The Woodlands due to the sloping site conditions. Tobermore solved the problem quickly and efficiently with the provision of Secura Grand – a mortar-free retaining wall product with an attractive, aged finish.

Challenge Modern paving flags required for city centre roof terrace at flexible workspace Urban HQ situated in Eagle Star House offers state-of-the-art facilities including meeting rooms, event space, a member’s lounge and bar.  One of its most notable spaces is the rooftop terrace. The roof garden provides co-workers with a valuable communal area to foster company culture or escape from their desk. The terrace offers a flexible space to relax, socialise or entertain while taking in the views of Belfast city and beyond. The central design aspiration was to bring a New York or London feel to Belfast city. It was essential that the roof terrace hard landscaping aligned with the design ethos. SolutionContemporary Mayfair Flags installed on pedestals were the perfect choice  Tobermore’s Mayfair Flags with their granite aggregate contemporary finish were the perfect choice for Eagle Star House. A contrasting finish was created on the terrace in the colours Silver and Graphite. A simple yet effective stacked laying pattern was deployed which adds to the clean look of the contemporary roof terrace. The commercial space has more of a boutique hotel feel than a city centre office. The Mayfair paving flags were installed onto adjustable pedestals, creating a level surface throughout the terrace. The use of this installation system enables the laying of paving flags without the need for grout, sand or adhesive. It also creates a void beneath the paved surface allowing an easy and convenient route for exterior cables or other services. View our Roof Terrace Support for installation on pedestals for roof terraces, balconies and roof gardens.

Braemar block paving revitalises traditional high streetTobermore’s high-quality Braemar block paving was the ideal choice for West Blackhall. This premium product combines a sleek, modern aesthetic with practical functionality, making it well-suited for a busy public setting. Its durable, low-maintenance design ensures that the space remains both accessible and visually appealing for years to come. The £3.2 million regeneration project in West Blackhall aims to revitalise the traditional high street by blending modern improvements with historic charm. The primary goal is to create a vibrant and welcoming space that caters to the needs of the local community while enhancing accessibility, ensuring the area is inclusive and easy to navigate for everyone, including those with mobility challenges. By combining a modern design with functional upgrades, the project will breathe new life into the high street. The ChallengeProvide a high-end product to match the quality of natural stone Inverclyde Council approached this project with several key goals aimed at revitalising the high street. Their primary objective was to create a more accessible and welcoming environment for both shoppers and visitors, ensuring the area would cater to a diverse range of needs, making it more navigable and inclusive. The council wanted a solution that could replicate the look and feel of natural stone, offering the same sense of quality and sophistication. Equally important was the need to balance these enhancements with budgetary constraints, ensuring all upgrades and modifications were cost-effective. By carefully evaluating priorities, the council hoped to deliver a high-impact transformation that would stimulate the local economy while remaining within budget.  The SolutionTobermore Braemar was used to breathe new life into the traditional high street Having used Tobermore products before, Inverclyde Council was already familiar with their exceptional quality. This prior experience gave the council confidence that Tobermore’s paving solutions would meet the high standards they required for the project.  To ensure they selected the perfect product that would mimic natural stone, Inverclyde Council utilised Tobermore’s innovative Live Design Studio. This interactive experience allowed the council to see and evaluate the product in real time, providing an opportunity to examine the appearance, texture, and quality up close. Live Design Studio made choosing Tobermore Braemar block paving easy as it was the ideal product to meet the council’s vision, combining premium aesthetics with long-lasting performance. The Braemar block paving was installed in a bound format to ensure enhanced durability and stability for the high street’s busy environment. Four carefully selected colours (Arran Stone, Jura Grey, Alto Silver, and Innis Black) were used to create a striking and dynamic laying pattern. This combination not only added depth and character to the space but also created a contemporary and sophisticated aesthetic that perfectly complemented the high street’s design aspirations.  The addition of finishing touches, such as Fusion Kerb for clean and modern edging, and Tobermore Tactile paving slabs to support accessibility, has resulted in a perfectly designed high street space. These details not only elevate the overall aesthetic but also ensure the area is inclusive and welcoming for all visitors.
