The Intensive Green Roof system typically consists of a combination of hard and soft landscaped finishes that create valuable mixed use roof garden and podium amenity areas at roof level.
Intensive green / living roof installations.
Intensive Green Roof system comprises:
- Engineered growing media:
ABG peat free media derived from sustainable, recycled, UK sourced materials. Using a specifically developed growing media can help provide the right growing environment for the selected vegetation and also reduces the load on the roof.
- Vegetation/ Surfacing:
A wide variety of vegetation can be used on intensive green roofs; from grasses to shrubs and trees as well as hard surfacing such as pavers and block paving.
- Deckdrain:
Utilising a high strength drainage geocomposite such as ABG Deckdrain 25mm provides the adequate sub-soil drainage required for larger scale planting and podium deck paving areas found in intensive green roof garden applications. The ABG Deckdrain prevents waterlogging of the soils during periods of heavy rainfall and the high strength core used in ABG Deckdrain allows the product to be used in high load areas such as on podium decks with vehicular traffic.
ABG Deckdrain consists of a combination of a cuspated core with a geotextile filter bonded to the upper face. It is manufactured in the UK from up to 95% recycled material.
It forms a lightweight, high performance drainage layer with integrated filter geotextile that eliminates clogging within the drainage structure and provides a continuous drainage layer across the structure.
It provides excellent drainage over the whole base area of the soil layer, as well as providing additional waterproofing protection.
