Application

Our Aluminium Curtain Walling System from Epwin Window Systems is designed for use in a wide range of commercial, public sector, and large-scale architectural projects where expansive glazed façades are required. Its combination of structural strength, thermal efficiency, and aesthetic flexibility makes it suitable for both new-build and refurbishment schemes.

Commercial Buildings

Ideal for office blocks, business parks, and mixed-use developments, the curtain walling system provides a sleek, modern façade solution that supports large areas of glazing. It enhances natural light penetration while maintaining thermal performance, contributing to energy efficiency and occupant comfort.

Education Sector

Schools, colleges, and universities benefit from the system’s durability and low maintenance requirements. Its ability to accommodate large stairwell screens and glazed atriums makes it particularly suitable for high-traffic educational environments, where safety, performance, and visual appeal are key considerations.

Healthcare Facilities

Hospitals and medical centres require fenestration systems that offer hygiene, resilience, and ease of maintenance. The Curtain Walling System’s post-installation fitting method helps minimise site damage and disruption, while its thermal cavity design supports regulated indoor environments essential for patient wellbeing.

Retail and Shopfronts

For retail units and shopfronts, the system offers a visually striking façade that can be customised with a wide range of colours and finishes. The ability to replace individual glazed units easily ensures minimal downtime in the event of damage, supporting operational continuity.

Industrial and Factory Units

In industrial settings, the system’s robust aluminium structure and PVC-U cladding provide long-term durability and resistance to environmental wear. Its compatibility with Epwin’s 70 mm window and door systems allows for integrated design solutions across the building envelope.

Public Sector and Civic Buildings

From libraries and leisure centres to council offices and transport hubs, the Curtain Walling System delivers a professional, high-performance solution that meets the aesthetic and functional demands of civic architecture.

Retrofit and Refurbishment Projects

The system’s modular design and post-installation assembly make it ideal for retrofit applications, allowing for efficient upgrades to existing façades with minimal disruption. Its thermal and structural properties support compliance with modern building regulations and sustainability targets.

Description

Key Features and Benefits

Versatile Glazing Options

The system accepts direct-glazed insulated units or spandrel panels, allowing for a wide range of design and performance specifications. In the event of damage or breakage, individual glazed units can be replaced with ease, reducing maintenance time and cost.

PVC-U Cladding for Aesthetic Consistency

Both internal and external faces are clad in PVC-U, ensuring a consistent colour and material finish across the façade. A wide range of colour options is available to suit any architectural style or branding requirement.

Post-Installation Assembly

Window frames, cover caps, and cladding panels are fitted after the main structure is installed. This approach minimises the risk of site damage and ensures a clean, professional finish.

System Integration

The curtain walling system is fully compatible with Epwin’s 70 mm window and door systems, enabling seamless integration across the building envelope.

Thermal and Structural Performance

Thermal Cavity Design

The system incorporates a thermal cavity design in line with AAMA TIR-A8-90, ensuring structural performance of poured and de-bridged barriers.

Thermally Broken Aluminium Sections

Aluminium profiles feature a polyamide thermal break with a conductivity of 0.168 W/m·K and are finished with a Chromium Phosphate coating for enhanced durability and corrosion resistance.

Applications

This curtain walling system is suitable for a wide range of commercial and public sector applications, including:

  • Schools and universities
  • Hospitals and healthcare facilities
  • Office buildings and business parks
  • Retail units and shopfronts
  • Industrial buildings and factories
  • Stairwell screens and atriums

Digital Specification Support

To support modern specification workflows, the Curtain Walling System is available as a BIM object in Revit, IFC, and DWG formats. It includes COBie-compliant data and full metadata for accurate scheduling, performance analysis, and integration into digital models.
