Description

With the changes to Approved Document B prohibiting the use of combustible materials within the external leaf of buildings over 18 meters, there was a demand for a new cavity tray to be developed. Tate Steel's solution is a stainless steel cavity tray, meticulously designed, manufactured and supplied to function as a non-combustible system. The tray is designed to fix back to the internal structure and extends to the external masonry leaf, covering the entire cavity. It's purpose is to effectively expel water and moisture through weep vents.

The two-part design effectively prevents thermal bridging from the external to the internal leaf. The top tray features horizontal slots that allow for adjustable fixing positions, ensuring correct alignment with on-site studs. The bottom tray embeds into the mortar, ensuring a stable and secure placement. The overlapping trays capture any water or moisture, directing it from the top tray down to the bottom tray and finally through the weep vents.
