Modular sensing cable | TraceTek TT5000. Guidance for specification option: Detects the presence of liquid hydrocarbon fuels at any point along its length and does not react to water, pre-terminated with factory fitted non-corrosive modular locking connectors.
Four wire construction (two sensing, one alarm and one continuity wire) with no exposed metal (to ensure corrosion resistance), with the core encased in a radiation cross-linked conductive-polymer jacket surrounded by a fluoropolymer braid. The sensing wires shall also covered in a conductive fluoropolymer (to provide continuous verification of sensing circuit integrity).
Features: - Will not react to the presence of water.
- The cable senses the fuel/ chemical liquid, triggers an alarm, and pinpoints the location of the leak to within one meter.
- Available in a variety of lengths to provide as much coverage as needed.
- Can be connected in series to provide distributed monitoring for trenches, subfloors, and double-containment piping, or used individually for double containment tanks, sumps, and small areas. The zone sensing cable - which comes with a factory-installed, heat-shrink end termination - is also available for small area coverage.
- Mechanically strong and chemical resistant due to radiation-crosslinking and conductive-polymer technology.
- Consult manufacturer's literature for available variants.
- FM Approved, UL Listed and CE Marked.
Technical characteristics: - Cable diameter: Standard: 7 mm (nominal); with connector: 13 mm (nominal).
- Cable weight: 7.3 kg/ 100 m (nominal).
- Operating temperature range: –20°C to +60°C.
- Pull force limit: Not to exceed 22.7 kg.
- Bend radius: 50 mm (minimum).
- Pressure: Loads greater than 9 kg per linear inch at 20°C (68°F) may immediately trigger an alarm.
- Chemical resistance: Cable functions normally after exposure in accordance with ASTM D 543 at 23°C (73°F) for seven days.
- Response times: Gasoline: 12 minutes; diesel fuel: 60-120 minutes; jet fuel: 50-70 minutes; Xylene: 20 minutes.

Fast fuel point sensor | TraceTek TT-FFS. Guidance for specification option: Fast fuel sensor that, at 20°C, detects gasoline, jet fuel or diesel in 5 seconds, biodiesel in 45 seconds, crude oil in 3 minutes.
Resettable, reusable and testable, and does not react to rain, snow, water or condensation. Mounted at a low point of a containment sump or containment area, it is suitable for use with model leader cable, modular branch connectors and jumper cables, and can be installed on floor mounted brackets.
Features:
- Will not react to the presence of water.
- Fast acting probe, designed to detect hydrocarbon fuel floating on water, spreading on a flat surface or collecting in a sump.
- Reaction time for the probe is typically a few seconds (for light or middle weight fuels) such as gasoline, jet fuel, and diesel. It is also responsive to crude oil and some heavier weight fuels and heating oils, but becomes progressively slower as the fuel volatility decreases - consult manufacturer for details.
- Improves the safety of diesel generators used for back-up electrical power, reducing the risk of fire if a leak were to occur.
- The probe will reset after removal from contact with the spill, and the fuel is allowed to evaporate. Some heavier fuels require that the sensor be soaked in isopropyl alcohol or naptha in order to clear the heavier fuel residuals.
- Meets the FM 7745 Approval Standard.
- Consult manufacturer's literature for available variants.
- FM Approved.
Technical characteristics: - External diameter: 25.4 mm.
- Tube material: Polypropylene, with static charge reduction additive.
- Leader cable: 4 x 22 American wire gauge (AWG), polyurethane jacketed and fuel resistant.
- Operating/ storage temperature: –40°C to +85°C.
- Salt water immersion: Tested for 30 days in 3% salt water at 20°C without failure or degraded response.
- Hot water immersion: Tested for 30 days in 60°C water without failure or degraded response.
- Acid resistance: 24 hours in 10% H2SO4 or 10% HNO3 without failure or degraded response.
- Response times: Gasoline, Jet A fuel, diesel, naphtha: Less than 5 seconds; MTBE: 12 seconds; crude oil: 3 minutes; bio-diesel: 45 seconds.

Alarm and location modules | TRACETEK TTDM-128. Guidance for specification option: Alarm and location system capable of directly monitoring up to 1500 m of sensor cable, and a network of up to 128 remote modules.
Features: - Provides flexibility in terms of system layout options and monitoring capability (can cope with up to 128 circuits).
- When liquid is detected on any of the sensors, the TTDM-128 sounds an alarm, closes relay contacts, turns on a front panel LED and displays the circuit identification and location of the leak on the alphanumeric display.
- Leak detection information is logged to a non-volatile event history file. All status and event information is made available via the front panel keyboard or RS232/ RS485 modbus digital communication to a host computer, PLC or plant/ building automation system.
- Each sensor circuit detects, locates and tracks leaks independently from any other circuits connected to the TTDM-128. There is no loss of sensitivity and no re-mapping required after an initial leak is detected.
- Can be operated remotely.
- A range of accessories are available, consult manufacturer for details.
- FM Approved, UL Listed, TUV certified and CE Marked.
Technical characteristics: - Sensor compatibility: All Tracetek sensor cables and point sensors or contact closure devices.
- Interfaces (relays): DPDT.
- Interfaces (network port): RS-485 (2 wire).
