Application

Application can be made to any mineral substrate and will work to protect against a negative head of water pressure. Areas such as:

  • Internal basement waterproofing.
  • Tunnel lining.
  • Concrete protection.
  • Waterproofing of pile heads.
  • Waterproofing of swimming pools
  • Waterproofing of tanks and bunds.
  • Koster NB1 Grey works to plug the capillaries (or pathways) in which water can enter.
  • Koster Restoration Plaster provides a decorative finish but can also consolidate salts within its 20mm thickness.

Description

Waterproofing of internal basement areas in existing buildings can be carried out with Koster mineral waterproofing systems. They have excellent bonding characteristics to surfaces such as brick, stone, concrete, block, etc and won’t detach from wet and moist substrates.

According to BS 8102, This Koster Type A waterproofing system can be used to successfully waterproof a structure to achieve Grades 1, 2 or 3.

The system includes the following materials:

  • Koster Polysil TG500. A deeply penetrating primer which acts to harden the substrate as well as reduces the mobility of the salts.
  • Koster Repair Mortar Plus. A slightly expanding and hydrophobic, mortar ideal creating fillets and carrying out repairs prior to waterproofing.
  • Koster NB1 Grey. A waterproof cementitious slurry which blocks the capillaries in the substrate preventing pressurised water passing through.
  • Koster Restoration Plaster. A Non-Gypsum containing render which is open to vapour diffusion and acts to prevent the formation of condensation on its surface.
  • Koster NB1 Grey is applied via brush or spray. Applied in two coats to a thickness of 1 to 2 mm.

All below ground waterproofing systems should be designed alongside an approved and certified surveyor.
