Slate 2000 is designed for roof pitches from 12° to 69° and includes tiles manufactured using the highest-grade aluzinc steel, coated in a granulated finish and sealed using an acrylic glaze.

Application

Suitable for roofing applications particularly as an alternate for slate tiles and as part of both cold and warm roof build ups.

Description

Slate 2000 roofing system features tiles designed to give the true characteristics of a slate appearance, with a broken bond finish and half the installation time when compared with traditional tiles.

  • Separating walls: completely fill the space between the top of wall and underside of the Slate 2000 with mineral wool quilt to provide fire stopping.
  • Boxed eaves: completely seal air paths in the plane of separating wall with wire-reinforced mineral stopping.

  • Cover: 1 pack (2200 nails) = 500 tile panels.
  • To be used for all Britmet tile panels, flashings and accessories.

Lightweight metal tile touch-up kit.

Guidance for specification option:

  • Cover: 1 m².
  • To be used for all vertically fixed nails or damaged marks. Apply the paint over the nail heads or damaged areas, then sprinkle the granules over the paint.

System completion

Manufacturer guidance

  • Warranty: in accordance with the warranty requirements, the manufacturer must be notified upon completion of all works. A final inspection will then be carried out by the manufacturer's representatives, and the contractor must ensure safe access for the inspection.
  • Excess: remove any excess materials to storage and dispose of any waste from the site safely.

Flashings

Barge - left-hand.

Guidance for specification option:

  • Cover: 1100 mm (3 courses).
  • To be laid over the barge batten, in line with the tile profile. Secure with six nails - black 3.35 x 50 mm; three vertically and three through the side.

Barge - right-hand.

Guidance for specification option:

  • Cover: 1100 mm (3 courses).
  • To be laid over the barge batten, in line with the tile profile. Secure with six nails - black 3.35 x 50 mm; three vertically and three through the side.

Hip - angle ridge.

Guidance for specification option:

  • Cover: 1150 mm (100 mm lap).
  • To be laid over the hip battens, starting from the eave. Secure with six nails - black 3.35 mm x 50 mm; three through either side.

Valley.

Guidance for specification option:

  • Cover: 1150 mm (100 mm lap).
  • To be placed between the valley battens over the lay boards, fix vertically into the valley battens.

Side abutment - left-hand side wall flashing.

Guidance for specification option:

  • Cover: 1100 mm (3 courses).
  • To be laid over the side wall batten and up against the side wall, in line with the tile profile. Secure with three nails - black 3.35 mm x 50 mm vertically through the flashing into the side wall batten.

Ventilation

Eaves ventilator trays - rafter roll 6 m.

Guidance for specification option:

  • Cover: 6 m x 600 mm.
  • To be installed over the rafters, at 400, 450 or 600 mm centres, at the eave. Secured into the rafters with clout nails or equivalent.

Eaves vents (roof pitch 12°–15°) - eave vent strip 25 mm.

Guidance for specification option:

  • Cover: 1000 mm.
  • To be installed over fascia board, butting each strip together every 1 m length.

Eaves vents (roof pitch 16°–69°) - eave vent strip 10 mm.

Guidance for specification option:

  • Cover: 1000 mm.
  • To be installed over fascia board, butting each strip together every 1 m length.

Eaves underlay supports - eave tray 1 m.

Guidance for specification option:

Cover: 900 mm.

To be installed over the eave vent strips with 100mm lap, secured into the eave batten with clout nails or equivalent.
