Application

It provides Impact Sound and Thermal insulation to wooden and concrete floors allowing them to be tiled without causing noise pollution in the room below.

Description

It is a foam-cored, cement covered waterproof tile backer boards for floors providing decoupling and thermal insulation. This version is made specifically for floors above other living spaces such as in apartments and hotels to enable the floors to be tiled because it has an additional rubber layer which stops impact sound (footfall noise) on a tiled floor being heard in the room or flat underneath.

Features and benefits:

  • Waterproof
  • Thermal Insulation (thermal conductivity 0.04W/mK)
  • Absorbs impact sound.
  • Lightweight and easy to use.
  • Allows floors to be tiled without the concern of causing noise pollution - the boards are designed to solve problems incurred by structural vibrations from impact sound (e.g. footsteps).
  • Reduces sound by up to 20 dB, and heat loss by up to 60%.
  • Load bearing capacity of up to 30 t/m².
  • The material will not shrink, degrade or become brittle.
  • Provides decoupling that allows lateral movement to be absorbed by the board and not, for example, by tiled flooring – so, the tiles don’t crack.
  • Meets local authority regulations for tiled bathrooms in shared apartments and flats.
  • Can be cut to size easily.
  • Can be used with underfloor heating wire.
  • Manufactured in accordance with ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.

The SoundBoard will remove the solid link between where the impact sound happens (floor/ ceiling) with a layer of styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) foam. The side with the sound attenuating layer will then effectively isolate the tiles and the tile backer board from the floor, so the impact sound vibrations cannot be transmitted into the room below.
