OVERVIEW
Wallbarn partnered with AB Building and ISW UK to deliver a fully compliant Class A fire-rated decking system, combining technical expertise, non-combustible materials, and coordinated installation. This collaborative approach ensured end-to-end project delivery—from specification support and estimating through to installation—with a focus on efficiency and regulatory compliance.
To support accurate specification, Wallbarn provided a comprehensive material estimate based on scaled 3D layout drawings. These visuals played a key role in project coordination, helping the client visualise the finished result, the installer plan the on-site workflow, and the logistics team manage deliveries with precision. By aligning all parties from the outset, delays were avoided and installation progressed without disruption.
The system comprised Wallbarn’s MetalPad Ex adjustable pedestals and I-Plus aluminium joists, paired with AB Building’s ExaDeck ceramic boards. Both substructure and surface materials meet Class A fire-rating requirements under current UK regulations, providing a 100% non-combustible decking solution.
Installation was streamlined through the use of just two connection components: the M8 Wing Nut Kit, used to fix pedestals to joists and connect joists together; and the W Clip 60, a hidden fixing that maintains consistent 6mm board gaps while providing secure, discrete fastening. This simplified approach reduced time on site and ensured a clean, uniform finish.
Following the removal of the existing WPC decking, the site was prepared and new materials delivered on schedule. The result is a robust, fully fire-compliant decking area that balances visual impact with long-term performance—achieved through clear communication, high-quality materials, and seamless coordination between all stakeholders.
