Design & Understanding of Passive Fire Barriers & Compartmentation
FIREFLY™ TBA
This CPD is addressing a very current and industry- relevant topic; firstly, the need for compartments and then the design, specification and detailing of fire safe compartments, for new- build and retrofit/ remedial works to *non- compliant buildings (*Approved Document B; Fire Safety). The presentation covers Passive Fire Protection and offers learning on products within this sector and on building applications, with focus on where compartments may be required and the performance needed. This CPD progresses to looking at tested details required in the formation of cavity and compartment barriers, with some case study images as well as practical installation details showing interface with fixing points, and the need for system- tested ancillary components, such as sleeving for cable tray and other services penetrations. By the end of this CPD, delegates should: Have an Understanding Changes in Building Regulations and Compliance. Know where Fire Safe Compartment and Cavity Barriers are required. Always consider "Performance, Buildability & Compliance" of these Systems. Understand alternative options and features of other Passive Fire Protection components. Understand the interaction of ancillary products required to form a tested and compliant "System".
