Closely linked with climate change and flooding the effects of erosion and land loss regularly feature on our new feeds. Geofabrics deliver a 45 minute insight into geosynthetics used to reduce the impact from erosion. This CPD gives an insight into geosynthetic root barriers and their role within invasive plant protection. Working with academic partners, detailed analysis of root tip morphology in the presence and absence of Copper ions have been carried out. The results demonstrate that when root tips approach the zone of inhibition, they undergo a progressive collapse. This learning presentation will be of interest to those in design, engineering, procurement and planning and roles where public or private land is at risk from invasive plant growth.

Geofabrics deliver a 46 minute presentation which will explain the basic structures of different geotextiles and how changes in such can impact performance properties. From this the methods for testing geotextiles will be explained along with how tests can be interpreted against performance. It will also cover European and UK requires for CE marking and UKCA.

Sustainable Urban Drainage (SuDS) is at the forefront of any urban development and with many Geosynthetics products out there it can be difficult for designers to know which products to use in different scenarios. This presentation will provide guidance on what applications; geotextiles and geocomposites can be used and where. The presentation will also aid in how to correctly specify products and inform on the correct testing, standards and certification to consider. The learning presentation will be of interest to those in design, engineering, planning and procurement where sustainable design and drainage is of high importance.
