The compound was required to accommodate a substantial number of bicycles while offering convenience, security, and environmental benefits to both staff, pupils and visitors to the school. The project involved the installation of a Bespoke 6m Kimmeridge Double Sided Compound, specially designed to meet the school’s unique requirements. Including 1m extended legs to ensure secure sub-surfacing and finished in Umbra Grey RAL 7022, the finished shelter resulted in a transformative cycle compound installation that contributes to the school’s commitment to accessibility and sustainability.

The principal project objectives were as follows:  Sheltered Outdoor Seating: The school aspired to establish a comfortable and welcoming outdoor seating area for students and staff, facilitating various activities such as dining, socialising, and studying. Protection from adverse weather conditions, including rain and sun, was a paramount requirement. Aesthetic Integration: It was of utmost importance that the new shelters seamlessly harmonised with the existing school environment. This included integrating with the school’s modern aesthetics characterised by uniform colour schemes in the main building’s composite panelling and guttering. Durability and Longevity: Given the investment in these outdoor shelters, the school desired structures that would stand the test of time and endure even the harshest conditions.  To fulfil the unique requirements of King Edward VI Northfield School For Girls, NBB Outdoors devised and implemented a bespoke solution encompassing the following key features:   Bespoke Design: Covering a combined 112 square metres and perfectly spanning the full width of the paved courtyard, the two shelters provide ample space for students and staff to enjoy the outdoors comfortably. Additionally, each shelter has been sub-surfaced with the paving slabs reinstated to maintain a clean finish. Rainwater Management: Guttering and downpipes were thoughtfully incorporated into the shelter design to prevent rainwater from cascading over the shelter’s edges. This feature ensured that the outdoor seating area remained dry even during inclement weather. Aesthetic Consistency: The shelters were finished in Signal Brown RAL 8002, in keeping with the school’s modern aesthetic. This careful colour coordination seamlessly integrated the new shelters into the existing surroundings, creating a unified and visually appealing environment. Corrosion Resistance: The freestanding shelters were treated with NBB Outdoors’ industry-leading Triplex anti-corrosion finish, providing exceptional resistance to corrosion and environmental stressors. This finish guaranteed the shelters’ durability for 25 years.  The new outdoor seating areas have contributed to an improved campus experience, providing students with a versatile and welcoming space to engage in various activities. The Coombes CE Primary School engaged NBB Outdoors with a specific project brief aimed at improving the functionality and aesthetics of their school grounds. The primary project objectives were as follows:  Sheltered Pathway: The school required a sheltered outdoor area covering 16 meters of an internal corner of the building. Serving multiple entrances, they wanted to ensure that students, staff, and visitors could move safely and comfortably, regardless of the weather. Integration: It was of equal importance that the new shelter seamlessly integrated with both the school’s brand and uniform, matching the rich blue primary colour and incorporating the school logo onto the shelter. Year-Round Protection: The shelter needed to provide year-round protection from all weather conditions, ensuring that the covered pathway remained dry, safe, and functional. Diverse Installation: The project site included both concrete steps and tarmac, necessitating a combination of mounting variations to ensure secure installation.  To meet The Coombes CE Primary School’s unique requirements, NBB Outdoors designed and implemented a bespoke L-Shaped shelter solution, offering a range of tailored features: Full-Length Panelling: Clear polycarbonate glazing was affixed to the shelter, providing year-round protection from all weather conditions, making the sheltered pathways functional throughout the year. This feature ensured that students, staff, and visitors could move safely and comfortably, irrespective of the elements. Branding Integration: The school logo was prominently printed on six panels of the shelter, showcasing the school’s identity and creating a sense of pride among students and staff. Further, the shelter was gloss finished in Blue RAL 5002, enhancing the overall aesthetic appeal of the premises. Considered Installation: To accommodate both tarmac and concrete surfaces, seven shelter posts were surface-bolted, while four were sub-surfaced, ensuring the shelter’s stability and security.  As a further benefit, the resulting shelter received NBB Outdoors’ industry-leading Triplex anti-corrosion finish, providing exceptional resistance to corrosion and environmental challenges. This finish guaranteed the shelter’s durability for 25 years. It was imperative to demonstrate commitment to meeting high standards of safety, compliance, and efficiency throughout the project’s execution.Durability and Longevity: Recognising the significant investment in this outdoor shelter, the academy sought structures that would not only withstand the test of time but also endure the most challenging environmental conditions with resilience and longevity. To meet Midlenhall Academy’s exacting requirements, NBB Outdoors designed and delivered a bespoke Freestanding L-Shaped Tiered Winterbourne Shelter, including the following key features:Precise Dimensions: The shelter’s dimensions were meticulously tailored to fit the unique location; with a formation agreed to provide one continuous “L-Shaped” canopy measuring 57.115m. The bespoke design guaranteed optimal sheltered space was provided to meet the diverse needs of the academy.Rainwater Management: To effectively manage rainwater, a 500mm canopy overhang was incorporated at the highest point of the shelter. This addition was designed to facilitate efficient water runoff and prevent water ingress, thereby safeguarding the newly created sheltered areas keeping them dry, even during poor weather conditions.Stability and Security: The newly positioned shelter benefited from a strategically planned installation, with all freestanding posts securely sub-surfaced into the ground. Approached NBB Outdoors on behalf of their estimated client L’Oreal Professional Products, to create a bespoke outdoor Multipurpose Storage Shelter, for their location in Bury.The principal project objectives were as follows:Enhanced Storage Solution: Meridian Integrated Systems were tasked with sourcing a secure yet functional storage solution for the Professional Product distribution arm of L’Oréal’s UK operations, based in Bury. The solution necessitated a roof and lockable gates and had to be tailored to fit within a specified area.Integration: The solution was required to fulfil the dual objectives of being functional and offering plenty of space. While also ensuring security to prevent unauthorised utilisation of the amenities by other businesses.Limitations and Restrictions: Given the retail nature of the business, it was essential that the chosen partner adhere to the predetermined installation timelines and operate within designated working hours. This adherence must ensure minimal disruption to the ongoing operations of the business.To meet L’Oréal’s exacting standards and requirements NBB Outdoors designed and implemented a unique Multipurpose Storage Shelter offering a range of tailored features:Custom Design: After a thorough site survey, a tailored multipurpose storage shelter measuring L5170mm x W1970mm x H2300mm was determined as the ideal solution for L’Oréal’s needs. The proposed dimensions not only met the required size criteria but also seamlessly integrated into the allocated space.Material and Construction: NBB Outdoors recommended and installed a Galvanised corrugated metal cladding roof and sides to the bespoke storage shelter, whilst proposing and implementing a brown 100% recycled plastic cladding to the gates. The choice of materials ensuring the storage solution will stand the test of time, with little to no maintenance.Security and Protection: Ensuring the multipurpose storage shelter remained secure was of the utmost importance therefore the shelter was finished with Fire Brigade (FB Key) locks.With careful attention to detail and strategic material planning, NBB Outdoors not only fulfilled but surpassed the customer’s expectations. The key objectives for this new project were as follows: Multi-Purpose Space: Recognising the importance of outdoor spaces in the educational experience, the academy sought to enhance its outdoor facilities, by commissioning a large bespoke shelter. The purpose of this universal sheltered space is to provide a protected area for various student activities throughout the year. Aesthetic Synergy: It was of the utmost importance that alongside being versatile, the new shelter blended with the existing academy’s environment. This included integrating with The Khalsa Academy’s modern and contemporary main building. Durability and Longevity: The shelter was required to withstand the rigours of all weather conditions throughout the year, ranging from intense sunlight to heavy rain, strong winds, and even snow. Reliably serving its purpose for many years to come. To accommodate the unique needs of The Khalsa Academy, NBB Outdoors tailor-made and installed a bespoke shelter solution that delivered the following key features:  Bespoke Design: Measuring L30000mm x D11200mm,the large-scale design was purpose-built with versatility as its guiding principle. With every aspect of the shelter meticulously planned to create space that accommodates many activities. From outdoor classes to recreational gatherings, the bespoke design offers ample room for creativity, exploration, and learning. Planning and execution: Careful consideration was given during the installation process to ensure the first row of shelter posts were surface bolted to existing concrete. In contrast, all others were sub-surfaced, with tarmac reinstated where posts were anchored. The benefit of this approach was to ensure enhanced stability and durability of the shelter in all seasons.  Expert Finishing: The shelter was carefully finished in a contemporary Umbra Grey RAL7022, with modern black UPVC Guttering and the addition of padded post protectors in the academy’s bright blue colours, ensuring seamless integration into its surroundings. NBB Outdoors were delighted to partner with The Khalsa Academies Trust again, underscoring the satisfaction and trust they have in NBB Outdoors’ solutions and services. Sir James Smith Community School recently contacted NBB in need of a shelter for their outdoor recreation space. After liaising with our site surveyors, it was decided that a bespoke Winterbourne freestanding shelter with guttering would fit the space best. To install, freestanding posts were subsurfaced into the ground, and clear 16mm triple wall polycarbonate was used for the roof glazing. The finished shelter measured L15000mmxD8000mmxH2400mm in the colour Umbra Grey - RAL 7022. The shelter was treated with Triplex anti-corrosion multi-layer powder coating to ISO 12944, which guarantees the shelter for 25 years.

Forest Row Church of England Primary School is a rural village school located near Ashdown Forest in the county of East Sussex. Their vision is to provide all children with a safe and supportive environment in which they can learn, develop, and be the best they can be. The school contacted NBB in early 2023 to discuss their shelter requirements to extend their classrooms outside. Following a thorough site survey, and discussions on the best shelter to suit the brief, it was decided that two Bespoke Winterbourne Freestanding Shelters would be perfect for their requirements. The first measured L10m x D5.6m x H3.15m and included guttering to one side and kneelers to the middle posts to offer extra support whilst reducing the number of posts. The second shelter measured L14.1m x D4.3m x H3.1/2.5m and included guttering to one side, as well as 100% recycled plastic picket fencing around the perimeter completed with a gate to allow for teachers and pupils to exit and re-enter the area. Both shelters were treated with market-leading ‘Triplex’ multi-layer powder coating in Green RAL 6026 to guarantee their shelter for 25 years and compliment the scenic surroundings. On completion of the project, Lisa Weald, Premises Manager at Forest Row Church of England Primary School contacted NBB to let us know their installation was exactly what they hoped for, saying: “I feel compelled to write and let you know how amazing the team that came to install our canopies were. The final project measures W3000mm x D4000mm and it was galvanised and powder coated in Grey RAL 7022. This treatment guarantees the shelter to be maintenance-free for 15 years, with a service life of 25 years!

Childwall Sports & Science Academy, a returning happy customer of NBB Outdoors, sought to further enhance their campus infrastructure by installing a bespoke walkway between building entrances, to protect students and staff from adverse weather conditions such as rain, wind, and snow. The primary objectives were as follows:  Provide Weather Protection: Childwall Academy sought a sheltered walkway for their students and staff, particularly during inclement weather, to ensure comfortable and safe passage between building entrances. The shelter was to cover approximately 60 meters of pathway surrounding a recreational courtyard area. Seamless Integration: It was imperative that the new shelter seamlessly integrated with the existing environment, including the school’s building entrances, as well as our previous installation in 2021, which were all painted in Blue RAL 5002. Durability and Longevity: Given the harsh nature of British weather, this shelter would be exposed to highly corrosive conditions. Our solution needed to have a long lifespan; Childwall Academy aimed to benefit from this investment for an extended period. To meet Childwall Academy’s unique requirements, NBB Outdoors designed and delivered a tailor-made L-Shaped Winterbourne Wall Attached Shelter, including the following key features: Precise Dimensions: The shelter’s dimensions were meticulously tailored to fit the specific location, with one length measuring 36145x2000mm and the other 23940x2000mm. This precision ensured optimal coverage and protection within the defined space. The shelter included guttering and downpipes for effective rainwater management. Colour Matching: The shelter was finished in Blue RAL 5002, aligning perfectly with the colour of the school’s existing building entrances and our previous installation. This colour coordination not only complemented the existing surroundings but also enhanced the aesthetics of the campus. Industry-Leading Anti-Corrosion Finish: The finished shelter was treated with Triplex anti-corrosion protection. This treatment provides industry-leading corrosion resistance and guarantees the shelter’s durability for 25 years, even in the harshest C5-classified conditions.  NBB Outdoors were delighted to serve Childwall Academy again, underscoring the satisfaction and trust they have in NBB Outdoors’ solutions and services. The school had recently contacted NBB in need of a shelter, and together they came to the decision that a bespoke Free Standing Winterbourne Shelter would be best for the job. The structure measures 9000mm in length, and 2550mm in height, and was completed in the colour White RAL9003 to fit in with the existing area.Installation works commenced keeping any disruption to the school to a minimum and we are thrilled with the Walkway.

Their vision as a school is that it is a place of excellence and innovation, where children’s skills, knowledge and values can grow.NBB were recently contacted by the school, in need of a shelter to extend a classroom and create an outdoor learning area for use in the spring and summer months.After working closely with the school and surveying the site, it was decided upon that our Winterbourne Freestanding Shelter would be the best option to suit the environment. The finished project measures H2600 x L4000 x W4000mm and is powder coated in Umbra Grey RAL 7022 to complement the surroundings.They also chose to add on some 100% recycled plastic picket fencing to act as a perimeter for the learning area. The fencing is completely maintenance free, will never rot, crack, or splinter and will last up to 5 times longer than any timber alternative!

The school also opted for a powder coated Green (RAL 6026) colour to match their uniform and logo.

Poole high School is located in the heart of the sunny Dorset seaside town. A large school, they pride themselves on their successful pastoral system, reflecting the value they place upon the individual.Having worked with Poole High several times over the past decade, we were delighted to be approached once again to provide two bespoke, freestanding and wall attached shelters, to further extend their dining hall facilities into available space around the building. The finished project takes the form of a 22m x 10m Winterbourne Freestanding Shelter with a mixture of sub-surface and surface mounted posts, and 8m x 3m Winterbourne Wall Attached Shelter. Guttering and downpipes were also included so rain doesn’t cascade over the end of the shelter during rainy spells. To complement the school aesthetic and previous installations, Poole High School opted to have their new shelter galvanised and epoxy powder coated in Squirrel Grey RAL 7000. This surface treatment means the structure will be guaranteed to last 25 years, serving the school for many years to come. The roof is made from UV stabilised 16mm polycarbonate, to give a light and airy feel.Mark Sheldon, Estate Manager at Poole High School said: “After 3 previous successful shelter installations from NBB Outdoors, they were first choice for us when, towards the end of the 21-22 academic year, we explored the possibility of expanding our dining hall space by erecting a large canopy structure by the north entrance/exit, as well as a queue shelter by the west entrance/exit. NBB have been on hand to help and guide us through every step from initial quote to installation, and obligingly installed both structures during the summer holiday, causing as little disruption to school operations as possible and ensuring our new dining space is ready to go in time for our students to return. The school is delighted with the high standard of workmanship, as we’ve come to expect, and are sure our students will enjoy the space for many, many years to come!”.

Fleets Corner Business Park, located in Poole, boasts more than 560,000 square feet of commercial space, and accommodates a multitude of local and international companies.The number of people opting to travel to work by bicycle has significantly increased over the last couple of years, so NBB was delighted to be contacted by Faircloth Construction, the onsite contractor at Fleets Corner, to provide and install a new cycle shelter, complete with cycle racks on their site. As the business park continues to develop and grow, the increased amount of cycle facilities provides more employees the opportunity to take alternative modes of transport to their workplace.The finished project takes the form of our stylish, curved design Peveril Cycle Shelter, complete with Sheffield Toast Racks to securely house up to 12 bicycles and protect them from the elements. In addition to this, NBB’s best-selling Sheffield Cycle Stands, perfect for space-saving, were installed at additional locations within the business park. To complement the current aesthetic, Faircloth Construction opted to have their new cycle shelter, racks and stands - galvanised to ISO 1461:2009 as standard – epoxy powder coated in Anthracite Grey RAL 7016.Mike O’Keefe, Faircloth Construction’s Site Manager at Fleets Corner said on completion of the project: “We are delighted with the cycle shelter install on our site.  The whole process was made incredibly straightforward from start to finish by the team at NBB.  Their sales team were very helpful in helping us decide on the best option for our application, and their installation team were professional and efficient, completing the sub-surface installation on time, around other site works, and to a high standard.  We would highly recommend NBB Outdoors.”

Salisbury district hospital recently contacted NBB in need of a shelter to provide cover for one of their entranceways. After surveying the site, it was agreed upon that a bespoke Winterbourne Freestanding Shelter would be best suited to the environment.The finished project measures L4000 x D3000 x H3160 and is galvanised and powder coated in White RAL 9003This surface treatment – carried out to ISO 1461:2009 with a minimum coverage of UM85 – means the structure will be guaranteed to last for a minimum of 25 years maintenance-free, serving the hospital for many years to come. The roof is made from clear triple wall 16mm polycarbonate, to allow light to penetrate the sheltered areas.
