With a strong focus on working relationships and collaboration, The Commercial Solutions Team works closely with Clients, Architects, main Contractors and our Fabricators to deliver fenestration solutions both cost effectively and ecologically for the respective buildings.
We provide technical and specification support for Commercial projects.
Smart distributes to a nationwide fabricator network, including Ireland, Northern Ireland and our depot in Scotland. . Employing over 500 people, we have an annual turnover in excess of £150 million.
Our sustainability drive begins right at the start of our manufacturing process, with our procurement protocols ensuring that not only is the material we use 100% traceable all our aluminium billet is produced in Europe, with around 70% sourced directly from the UK. As well as being locally sourced, the UK billet also contains around 51% recycled aluminium – all of which helps us to minimise our carbon footprint.
We have recently committed to join the new Cradle to Cradle (C2C) certification scheme, an initiative launched by the C2C Institute
In a drive to continually reduce our greenhouse gas emissions, in 2016 we invested in our own independent grid supply - removing our reliance on diesel generators.
We recently installed 7,000 solar panels, which span the roofs of three of our buildings and now produce 20% of our total current energy requirements, reducing our operational CO₂ emissions by nearly 600 tonnes every year. The panels will continue to generate 2.7GWh of green, reliable energy for decades to come.
Our rainwater harvesting system has a capacity of nearly a million litres which we are able to use once filtered. Recycling and reusing the ionized water in our powder coating lines has also helped reduce our demand on local water resources.
First company of its kind to attain 5 BSI awards.
