It will help you to understand the following topics: - The development of offsite fabrication in architectural design - The history of modularity and the development of off-site manufacturing in construction - The benefits of off-site construction and why modular skylights are an efficient, sustainable option - Off-site construction in relation to skylights in educational and other spaces

This presentation is structured around five questions and will give an appreciation for the range of glazing materials and solutions that fall under the term ‘roof glazing’. What do we mean by the term ‘roof glazing’? What roof glazing materials are available? What are the advantages and disadvantages of different roof glazing materials? How can regulations and standards influence the choice of solution? How can different sectors benefit from different solutions? By the end of this presentation, you’ll have greater confidence in understanding what roof glazing is and the role it plays in commercial buildings. You’ll understand what the main ‘glazing’ material choices are, and the pros and cons of selecting them as solutions. And you’ll be able to identify how the different glazing options allow you to comply with standards and regulations, while meeting the specific needs of different commercial sectors.

The purpose of this CPD is to offer a review of the latest regulatory changes in the design and construction of education buildings specifically relating to rooflights. The regulatory changes include the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) Facilities Output Specification (FOS) 2017, BREEAM 2018 and the New European Standard Daylight of Buildings EN 17037.
