Werkman Tech is an international vacuum glass and window, door and curtain walling systems manufacturer. We have offices or distributors in Australia and all over the Far East, North and South America, the Middle East and now in Europe and the UK. We are considered the world leaders in vacuum glass technology and have set new standards for performance and sustainability with our GVG Window, Door and Curtain Walling systems.
Our vacuum insulated glass technology is continuously enhanced by our Research and Development department, led by Liam Liu, who has been at the forefront of vacuum glass since it's invention at Sydney University on the 2nd of June in 1989. He has worked with Professors Richard Collins and Cenk Kocer, the original inventors at Sydney University and continues to consult with them on new ideas, pushing the boundaries of vacuum glass manufacturing technologies forward. For those with an historic interest, the vacuum was invented in the form of a flask by Scottish Inventor James Dewar in 1892, and the concept of flat vacuum glass was first drawn up and described in the 1913 A Zoller Patent, so it’s not a new idea.
We are one of the only manufacturers in the world to produce curved vacuum units and we also manufacture the biggest commercial units made from 8mm toughened sheets, giving a vacuum insulated glass unit at 16.3mm thick. We continue to push expectations and boundaries of vacuum glass performance, and our latest innovation is changing the way people conceive vacuum glass units. We are moving from the standard clear ceramic 0.8mm pillar on a 40mm grid and replacing it with our new 0.48mm steel pillar set on a 50mm grid. This new structural design will reduce thermal bridging by a further 40% but even more importantly, it will reduce the visibility of our pillars by over 40%. This will make the pillars in our new units almost invisible to the eye and greatly enhance their attractiveness to the public. No longer will vacuum units be called “the glass with the dots” by the general public. We are adding to that bnefit by having our own offices in the UK and Europe, which allows architects and specifiers direct access to us for technical information and reduces product costs to end users.
Our company and vacuum capabilities has grown over the years, and in 2012 we decided to start making frames to house our vacuum units, as there was nothing on the market for vacuum glass. We wanted the best frames possible for our glass, so we sort expert help with the design from our good friends at Schuco. Together we designed a whole new vacuum glass range of windows, doors, sliding and patio doors and curtain walling and façades. Each system is designed to be the best, using insulated frames, RC3 rated security systems, multi gasketed airtight seals and our vacuum glass units. We called them GVG systems and as each different system was finished we took it to the Passive House Institute in Germany for testing, and all of our ranges are Passive House Institute certified components.
We have other glass ranges that we have developed over the years and include electrochromic glass units that come with a Ug Value of 0.44 W/m2K. These units have a control to change the clear glass into blackout glass and back again, which shields a room from solar radiation or turns a clear glass office space into a private room. We have just invented clear Radiator Glass, using our nano technology, which will heat up a room at a maximum of 70 degrees or less and is thermostatically controlled. This also comes with a Ug value of 0.44 W/m2K. Finally, for now, we have our clear PV Solar Glass, which makes electricity at 125W/m2. Again, it comes with a Ug value of 0.44 W/m2K.
Together, all of our systems are designed to be the best in their field, last far longer than the competition, offer unparalleled thermal insulation and durability, be airtight plus our advanced PV Solar Glass technology can be added to the systems to turn windows into solar panels and also our Radiator Glass can be added too as a triple unit, fitted in our GVG ranges and give the building free heating.
The final benefit for all of our ranges is the price. As the manufacturer we want to make our products accessible to the general market, so we price to compete with far lesser product ranges, making our products the absolute right choice for all projects.
