Description | Architectural rooflight coating. |
Preparation | Cleaners.Guidance for specification option: Any rooflights which are perished beyond structural safety should be removed and replaced with new. Thoroughly clean existing rooflights ensuring they are free from grease, fungus, lichen and mould growth. Most surfaces do not require priming. Adhesion tests should be carried out on non-standard substrates. If necessary, prime with Sharmans PU primer. Note: Do not at any time clean the surface with soap detergent. This action would leave a residual film and may adversely affect adhesion. Before the application of Sharmans products, ensure all surfaces to be treated are dry by using a mechanically driven leaf blower. |
Initial coats | Delglaze.Guidance for specification option: Utilising roller or brush apply a first coat of Delglaze® to the prepared, clean & dry, structurally sound surfaces at a wet film thickness of 166 microns. Allow to cure to a tack free state. |
Finishing coats | Delglaze.Guidance for specification option: Apply a second coat of Delglaze® at a wet film thickness of 166 microns. Allow to fully cure. |
Execution | Applying coating generally.Guidance for specification option: The Completed System Dry Film Thickness: Rooflights: minimum 200 microns Application Notes Delglaze® is supplied ready to use and does not require thinning. The introduction of additional thinning will invalidate the material guarantee. All surfaces to receive application must be clean and dry. Pay particular attention to the rooflight overlap detail which may be holding trapped water. Do not apply Delglaze® in inclement weather, or if rain is likely to occur before a tack free cured state is achieved. Allow each coat to cure until a tack free state is achieved before applying further coats. Curing times will vary with weather conditions. Refer to product data sheet. Application air temperature must be above 3ºc. Application surface temperature must be 2ºc above dew point. Always allow for expanded sheet profile, when estimating material quantities. The installing contractor must be fully trained in the use of Sharmans coatings. It is the contractors’ responsibility to inspect each section of the application to ensure the correct measures and steps outlined in this specification document are applied.
