Application

  • Suitable for use in the re-coating and refurbishment of aged and weathered glass reinforced plastic (GRP) rooflights, often in conjunction with Seamsil and Delcote systems.
  • Fully cured, Delglaze provides a tough clear elastic coating with crack bridging capabilities that can be used on a wide range of common building components such as concrete, glass, GRP and ceramic tiling.

Description

A high performance, high build, single component moisture curing rubberised polyurethane coating. Installed by manufacturer network of approved contractors, all project works are inspected and certified to exacting quality standards – consult manufacturer for details.

Features and benefits:

  • Primer-less adhesion to most common building products.
  • Resistant to weathering conditions; UV radiation, rain, snow and temperature extremes..
  • Fast application without disruption to internal activities.
  • Easy to apply by mini roller or brush.

System components and installation application:

  • Delglaze first coat: Utilising roller or brush, apply a first coat of Delglaze to the prepared, clean and dry, structurally sound surfaces at a wet film thickness of 230 microns and allow to fully cure.
  • Delglaze second coat: The first coat must cure for a minimum of six hours or until in a tack free state before the second coat is applied. Apply a second coat at right angles to the first coat at a wet film thickness of 230 microns and allow to fully cure.

Technical characteristics:

  • Product type: Single component blend of polyurethane resins.
  • Curing system: moisture cured polyurethane blend.
  • Appearance: Transparent semi-gloss.
  • Drying time at 20°C: Touch dry in 4 hours. Hard dry in 12 hours.
  • Overcoat time at 20°C: 6 hours (minimum).
  • Solids: By volume - 38.6%.
  • Theoretical coverage: 4 m² per kilogram per coat.
  • Application temperature: 2–35°C.
  • Dew point: Surface to be 2°C above the dew point.
  • Dry film thickness: 180 microns (minimum).

Description

Architectural rooflight coating.

Preparation

Cleaners.

Guidance for specification option:

Any rooflights which are perished beyond structural safety should be removed and replaced with new. Thoroughly clean existing rooflights ensuring they are free from grease, fungus, lichen and mould growth. Most surfaces do not require priming. Adhesion tests should be carried out on non-standard substrates. If necessary, prime with Sharmans PU primer. Note: Do not at any time clean the surface with soap detergent. This action would leave a residual film and may adversely affect adhesion. Before the application of Sharmans products, ensure all surfaces to be treated are dry by using a mechanically driven leaf blower.

Initial coats

Delglaze.

Guidance for specification option:

Utilising roller or brush apply a first coat of Delglaze® to the prepared, clean & dry, structurally sound surfaces at a wet film thickness of 166 microns. Allow to cure to a tack free state.

Finishing coats

Delglaze.

Guidance for specification option:

Apply a second coat of Delglaze® at a wet film thickness of 166 microns. Allow to fully cure.

Execution

Applying coating generally.

Guidance for specification option:

The Completed System Dry Film Thickness: Rooflights: minimum 200 microns

Application Notes

Delglaze® is supplied ready to use and does not require thinning. The introduction of additional thinning will invalidate the material guarantee. All surfaces to receive application must be clean and dry. Pay particular attention to the rooflight overlap detail which may be holding trapped water. Do not apply Delglaze® in inclement weather, or if rain is likely to occur before a tack free cured state is achieved. Allow each coat to cure until a tack free state is achieved before applying further coats. Curing times will vary with weather conditions. Refer to product data sheet. Application air temperature must be above 3ºc. Application surface temperature must be 2ºc above dew point. Always allow for expanded sheet profile, when estimating material quantities. The installing contractor must be fully trained in the use of Sharmans coatings. It is the contractors’ responsibility to inspect each section of the application to ensure the correct measures and steps outlined in this specification document are applied. Product coverage rates are for guidance purposes only.
