Pull out values:

Smooth shank: 35 kg. Annular shank: 90 kg. The shape of the shank is the determining factor. Tests carried out using 2.70 diameter x 30 mm long nails driven 75% into timber. An annular ring shank nail has to break the fibres of the wood when being driven, therefore resulting in higher pull out values.
