Application

FlameOUT® Block Class A is suitable for use in both walls and roofs.

Storage and handling:

  • Handle the membrane with care.
  • Ensure that the membrane is not punctured or damaged.
  • Store the membrane horizontally away from sunlight in a cool, dry sheltered store.

Installation:

  • FlameOUT® Block Class A should be continuous over the whole plan area of the structure. All laps should be sealed with Powerbond FR Aluminium Tape and the number of joints should be kept to a minimum by using the full width of the membrane.
  • When installed internally, the foil faced side of the membrane should be facing inwards.
  • The VCL should be laid loose, flat and without wrinkles, ensuring that the membrane is not creased or folded.
  • Cold makes the VCL become less supple. Install in temperatures over 5℃. Do not install in windy conditions.
  • Joins should only be made where the membrane is supported.
  • A continuous single row of Powerbond FR Aluminium Tape is recommended to seal the overlaps. All joins should be firmly pressed together using a hand-held pressure roller. Tapes should not be installed in temperatures below 5℃.
  • Prior to covering the VCL should be thoroughly inspected to verify the integrity of the joining and sealing and to ensure that no damage has occurred during installation.
  • Damaged areas must be repaired using patches of FlameOUT® Block Class A. The patch must not extend beyond 150 mm of the damaged area. Fix with Powerbond FR Aluminium Tape.
  • Where services and pipework penetrate the AVCL, use Powerbond FR Alumiunium Tape to create airtight seals around each point of entry. To avoid cutting the membrane, it is important that the membrane is folded into the corner and then reinforced by an additional protective layer of membrane.
  • Protect FlameOUT® Block Class A from UV exposure. Cover and finish the construction of the VCL installation within a maximum of 3 months.

Overlaps:

  • Horizontal overlaps should be 100 mm minimum.
  • Vertical overlaps should be 100 mm minimum.

Description

FlameOUT® Block Class A is a non-combustible Euroclass A2-s1,d0 rated air and vapour control layer (AVCL) Independently tested to EN-13501-1 this vapour barrier is especially suited to both high rise, 18 m+ in England and 11 m+ in Scotland and safety critical builds.

When used within wall and roof installations FlameOUT® Block Class A prevents moisture within the building's warm air from reaching the insulation layer and forming interstitial condensation.

FlameOUT® Block Class A has a glass reinforcement scrim which provides excellent tensile strength in wall and roof installations. The aluminium layer has a special protection coating to protect the aluminium layer from corrosion.

FlameOUT® Block Class A contributes to both BS 9250 for the airtightness in ‘a well-sealed ceiling’ and BS 5250 aiding the control of condensation within a roof space.

Features and benefits:

  • Euroclass A2-s1,d0 limited-combustible AVCL.
  • Independently tested to EN 13501-1
