Application

FlameOUT® Block Premium & Block Standard are suitable for use in both walls and roofs.

Storage and handling:

  • Handle the membrane with care.
  • Ensure that the membrane is not punctured or damaged.
  • Store the membrane horizontally away from sunlight in a cool, dry sheltered store.

Installation:

  • FlameOUT® Block Premium/Block Standard should be continuous over the whole plan area of the structure. All laps should be sealed with FlameOUT® Double Sided Tape. The number of joints should be kept to a minimum by using the full width of the membrane.
  • The VCL should be laid loose, flat and without wrinkles, ensuring that the membrane is not creased or folded.
  • Cold makes the VCL become less supple. Install in temperatures over 5℃. Do not install in windy conditions.
  • Joins should only be made where the membrane is supported.
  • A continuous single row of FlameOUT® Double Sided Tape is recommended to seal the overlaps. All joins should be firmly pressed together using a hand-held pressure roller. Tapes should not be installed in temperatures below 5℃.
  • Prior to covering the VCL should be thoroughly inspected to verify the integrity of the joining and sealing and to ensure that no damage has occurred during installation.
  • Damaged areas must be repaired using patches of FlameOUT® Block Premium/Block Standard. The patch must not extend beyond 150 mm of the damaged area. Fix with FlameOUT® Double Sided Tape
  • Where services and pipework penetrate the AVCL, use FlameOUT® Double Sided Tape to create airtight seals around each point of entry. To avoid cutting the membrane, it is important that the membrane is folded into the corner and then reinforced by an additional protective layer of membrane.
  • Protect FlameOUT® Block Premium/Block Standard from UV exposure. Cover and finish the construction of the VCL installation within a maximum of 3 months.

Overlaps:

  • Horizontal overlaps should be 150 mm minimum.
  • Vertical overlaps should be 150 mm minimum.

Description

FlameOUT® Block Standard & FlameOUT® Block Premium are polyethylene-based vapour control layers with a mono-filament reinforcement scrim to provide excellent tensile strength in wall and roof insulations. These vapour control layers are independently tested to British and international flame retardant standards.

When used within wall and roof installations FlameOUT® Block Premium and Standard both prevent moisture within the building's warm air from reaching the insulation layer and forming interstitial condensation.

FlameOUT® Block Premium & Standard contribute to both BS 9250 for the airtightness in ‘a well-sealed ceiling’ and BS 5250 aiding the control of condensation within a roof space.

Features and benefits:

  • Euroclass B-s1,d0 flame-retardant AVCL.
  • Independently tested to EN 13501-1.
  • Compliant for use in high-rise and high risk buildings.
  • Compliant to Approved Document B.
  • Suitable for roof and wall applications.
  • Excellent tensile strength and nail tear resistance.
  • Available in two grades: FlameOUT® Block Premium and FlameOUT® Block Standard.
  • Suitable for use as a damp proof membrane.
  • CE approval.
