Application

Permarock mineral fibre (EWI) systems are suitable for use above damp-proof course (DPC) level on buildings of dense or no-fines concrete, brickwork, blockwork, or suitably sheathed light steel frame or timber frame buildings, in any geographical location including those classified as having very severe exposure to wind-driven rain.

Suitable for residential and non-residential building types of any height where the highest levels of fire safety and non-combustibility are required.

Permarock systems are only for installation by Permarock registered installers.

Description

High-performance mineral fibre external wall insulation (EWI) system / external thermal insulation composite system (ETICS), comprising of non-combustible Euroclass A1 insulation, reinforced base coat and brick-effect render finish. The system achieves Euroclass A2-s1,d0 (EN 13501-1).

Permarock Mineral Fibre external wall insulation (EWI) systems are fire-safe, high-performance thermal insulation systems suitable for application to any building including relevant buildings as defined in the Building Regulations. Systems are suitable for use at any height and in proximity to any boundary.

Permarock mineral fibre (EWI) systems can be applied onto walls of dense or no-fines concrete, brickwork, blockwork, or suitably sheathed light steel frame or timber frame construction, in any geographical location including those classified as having very severe exposure to wind-driven rain.

Permarock Brick-effect Render (BER) is a factory-batched, two-coat, self-coloured, polymer-modified, cement-based render designed to simulate the appearance of facing brickwork or natural stone work. In addition, BER can also be used to create features such as soldier courses, brick quoins, etc. in combination with other Permarock decorative finishes.

Permarock BER incorporates a silicone water repellent which provides improved water resistance and helps maintain a cleaner surface. BER is particularly suited to projects where new brickwork cannot be used or where a brickwork appearance is desired.

The render can be applied to achieve metric or imperial brick sizes, any bond pattern and to create non-standard patterns and effects. Varying the surface texture of the render and incorporating special pigment powders or paints into the render surface during application can also further diversify the desired appearance.

Features and benefits:

  • Suitable for all buildings, including 'Relevant Buildings' as defined in the Building Regulations, including residential buildings with a storey height above 11 m.
  • Excellent fire performance: Non-combustible (Class A1) mineral (stone) fibre insulation - Fire breaks are not required.
  • A2-s1,d0 reaction to fire classification (EN 13501-1).
  • No restrictions on proximity to boundaries.
  • Adhesively bonded and mechanically fixed insulation.
  • High resistance to wind loads.
  • Mechanically anchored reinforcement layer: Provides enhanced resistance to wind loading and additional structural stability in a fire.
  • High impact resistance.
  • Low embodied energy.
  • Thermal conductivity: 0.036–0.039 W/m·K (depending on insulation specified).
  • BRE Global Certificate No.158/12.
  • The range of Brick-effect Render colours can be found here
  • Ecopoints score of 0.10 (m²) - 'Excellent' rating.
  • Acoustic benefit over other insulant types.
  • Has a working design life of in excess of 30 years.

Design considerations:

  • U-value calculations can be carried out for each project to determine the thickness of insulation required to achieve particular thermal performance requirements.
  • For high-rise buildings, a wind load assessment should be carried out by a suitably qualified structural engineer and the results (maximum wind suction on each elevation) should be provided to Permarock to enable an optimised fixing arrangement to be provided.
  • Please specify which bond pattern you require. e.g. Stretcher bond, Flemish bond, etc.
  • Contact Permarock to discuss your proposed design to enable the manufacturer to assist you in specifying the correct system and component parts.
  • Further information can be obtained from Permarock's Technical Hub

Beads and trims:

  • A full range of beads, trims, profiles and seals is available to enable the system to be interfaced with other building elements.
