Security Roller Shutter

Bolton Gate Company Ltd have a long established reputation for manufacturing a wide variety of quality shutters and doors and the security roller shutter is often considered to be the foundation point for so many other variables within that range.

Produced here, in our Bolton factory, the security shutters continue to be a highly economical method of providing a secure and weather resistant closure to a wide array of openings. 

Options for curved or flat lath, perforations and punched vision slots, different electrical drive options, RAL colours and even stainless steel finishes all provide for a highly adaptable and aesthetically pleasing yet cost effective solution.

Each security roller shutter is manufactured using quality products and engineering techniques ensuring trouble free operation all supported by the Bolton Gate technical design and back up.

Operation

Various types of arrangement are available with smaller openings typically using a 230 V nominal, single phase tubular motor and larger shutters operated by a 400 V nominal, three phase geared motor either as a direct drive or flange mounted assembly.

Adjustable limit switches are incorporated to stop the shutter at the extent of its travel.

Standard controls include rocker switches or keyswitch for tubular motors and open/ close / stop push buttons for geared motors.

Fall back protection is provided as standard in the form of safety brakes either integrated within the motor or as a separate roller shaft mounted unit.

A much wider range of supply voltages and operating controls can be accommodated including ATEX requirements.

Curtain:

The curtains are constructed from continuously interlocked galvanized steel laths held securely in place by end locks. 

Various thicknesses and profiles of laths are available and are selected according to the individual criteria such as size, wind loading etc. Laths with perforated or punched holes are also available allowing for visibility and free air flow through the curtain.       

Bottom rails are generally galvanized and supplied in a T-section profile.

Side guides:

Vertical guides are formed from rolled steel channels or fabricated depending upon size and wind loading and are supplied with suitable angles to fix to the structure.

Roller:

Fabricated from a steel tube of sufficient wall thickness and diameter to prevent deflection.

Endplates:

Fabricated from mild steel with support angles for fixing to the opening structure. 

Casings:

When specified, or if the opening is less than 2.4 m high, a galvanized steel coil casing is provided as standard to close off the operating mechanism.

Finish

Galvanized steel as standard with some parts primer painted.

Maximum sizes:

Typical arrangements up to 7000 mm wide x 7000 mm high

Weight:

Varies with opening size dependent on lath/ barrel/ casing requirements but a typical arrangement would be approximately 25 kg/m².
