Features and benefits:
The special power drive – T-STAR plus – is a so-called hexalobular socket. Compared to less precise drive types such as Philips or Phillips, the contact surface of the T-STAR plus is significantly larger, and the T-STAR plus bits always fit perfectly in the screw head. The resulting optimal, precise power transfer from screwdriver to screw with the T-STAR plus enables simple and extremely fast work, and is significantly more efficient than with any other drive.
The countersunk head (or flat countersunk head) is the most commonly used head geometry in the SPAX universe. It has a tapered shape and, at SPAX, is designed as a 90° MULTI head. SPAX's countersunk head screws offer the optimal compromise between maximum resistance to the resulting head pull-through forces and the most discreet and attractive screw connection possible. With its polygonal underside ("pockets"), the countersunk head mills its own recess into the wood, allowing it to be optimally countersunk into the wood without additional countersinking of the screw hole, and then sits flush with the surface.
Screws with a partial thread are suitable for attaching components such as wood-based panels, boards, floorboards, and even squared timbers to load-bearing components such as stud frames or posts. While the thread works its way through the load-bearing component, the unthreaded shaft of the partially threaded screw should pull completely through the upper attachment. As the screw is screwed in further, the screw head will pull the upper component towards the lower component. This creates maximum contact pressure between the two components when the screw is screwed in. This effect is ideal when the unthreaded shaft is at least equal to the thickness of the attachment.
The CUT tip of SPAX screws allows for extremely fast and effective screwing in of SPAX’s wood screws without pre-drilling. The arrow-shaped CUT tip, combined with the wave profile, reduces splitting and cracking of the wood. Furthermore, the CUT tip enables very precise and non-slip application of the screw tip, even on smooth surfaces.
For structures in non-weathered outdoor areas, effective corrosion protection for screws is essential. SPAX has developed WIROX , a coating that is superior to conventional galvanization in terms of protection and durability. WIROX-coated screws are significantly more resistant to mechanical stress than their yellowish chromated counterparts. WIROX does not contain chromium (VI), so the screws are not only just as resilient even after years of use outdoors, not directly exposed to the weather, but are also completely environmentally friendly. WIROX screws are suitable for all open structures without direct weather exposure, such as carports or pergolas. However, for particularly harsh weather conditions, such as patio areas, the manufacturer recommends their stainless steel screws.
