Application

Suitable for commercial and domestic use.

Description

A glazing system allowing unobtrusive secondary glazing installation behind the primary windows.

Features and benefits:

  • All profiles extruded from aluminium alloy (6063 T6, T5 or T4 to BS EN 12020-2 / BS 755-9). Outer frame sections are minimum 47 mm deep.
  • Horizontal and vertical sliding windows: Joints in outer and inner frames are formed with 45º mitres, secured by corner cleats fixed with stainless steel, self-tapping screws: bars are square cut at meeting sections.
  • Lift Off Windows: Outer frames formed from bars with square-cut ends, screwed together with stainless steel self tapping screws. Inner frames are formed with 45º mitres, secured by corner cleats fixed with stainless steel, self-tapping screws.
  • Side Hung Windows: Outer and inner frames are formed with 45º mitres, secured by corner cleats fixed with stainless steel, self-tapping screws.
  • Lugs and/ or frame anchors used to secure secondary glazing to the building structure must accommodate predicted loads and deflection within design tolerances. Generally, fixings must be positioned 150 mm from each corner and each mullion/transom and at centres not exceeding 600 mm. Fixing lugs/ straps should be used only where they can be suitably concealed.
  • Coupling: both vertical and horizontal windows can be coupled using coupling mullion TT56. Consult Metal Technology for details of additional ironmongery options.
  • Glazing is by means of an extruded channel gasket, which is wrapped around the glass, prior to the assembly of the frame members around the unit. Window can accommodate glazing from 4 to 6.4 mm single glazing.
