IntroductionAshcombe School was in desperate need of a washroom refurbishment as it was falling into disrepair and was fuelling student behaviour issues. They also required more cubicles, and there was often an unbalanced demand between the boys and the girls.Our SolutionFirstly, Brookhouse needed to understand Ashcombe's pains and create a design to eliminate these as best as possible. It quickly became apparent that they needed a unisex school washroom open to the corridor to create extra space and to mitigate behaviour issues. Many existing toilets were not working, so they needed this completed as soon as possible. The half-term break was identified as a week to carry out the demolition works. The location of the school washroom refurbishment was on the primary school corridor. With the project being carried out during term time, it was essential to ensure this was carefully managed to ensure safeguarding and to cause as little disturbance as possible.We created a design concept with full height cubicles to reduce the issues they were having and specified a trough and automatic infrared taps and soap dispensers to stop the students from filling up the basins and making them overflow. The solid grade laminate school washroom system has a floor & ceiling track to achieve privacy and create an extremely robust washroom that will last for years to come. Our relocation efforts were specifically tailored in order to maximise the client’s ROI, as we carefully interpreted the cost analysis of each decision. While working with us, Interconnector also invested in our furniture and workplace consultancy services. This was a move that proved vital in ensuring their new office location became a well-designed space, while also enhancing practicality and productivity of the workforce.Brookhouse managed the property search and viewings, as well as detailed analyses of potential office spaces for the client. All relocation services were undertaken with the end goal of acquiring the ideal space for our clients’ specific needs. In addition to this, we were able to save them a huge sum of money along the way. Due to terms within their lease contract, Interconnector was likely to be charged a large dilapidation sum upon leaving their previous premises. We were able to use our authority on the project and our leverage in the market to renegotiate the financial settlement, saving Interconnector over an astonishing £270,000.Brookhouse were given a tight deadline for completing the fit-out, ensuring that our client wouldn’t be left without an office at any point in the process. We were able to complete the entire strip out and new design installation within just 7 weeks.Always one step ahead, we provided our client with over 80 removals crates, 12 weeks in advance of their move. This gave Interconnector plenty of time to organise and pack up their assets in preparation for their relocation efforts. The ChallengeParmiter’s School needed five of their washroom blocks refurbished and work was initially planned to take place during term time for two of the quieter rooms and Summer for the other ones.The main objective for the school was to increase the amount of cubicles in all the washrooms to accommodate their increased student numbers.The SolutionBrookhouse, having created a strict methodology for term-time work, was able to refurbish both the Sixth Form Washroom and Gym toilets during term time with minimal disruption.The washrooms were designed utilising the spaces effectively to obtain the maximum amount of full-height enclosed cubicles which increased capacity by over 30% for each room.Superbly stylish, practical and highly durable, these solid grade laminate cubicles were the exact finish that Parmiter’s School were hoping for. The ChallengeSimon Balle School asked BrookhouseUK to help them create two new Unisex washrooms in their Block 1 and Block 2 Sixth Form areas of the school.The aim was to create open plan washroom spaces but with two sides to them by creating a partial height wall separating the two sides. As the layouts were completely changing and structural work needed to take place, this was a challenging undertaking.Full height IPS cubicles were required with separate vents in each along with new hand washing facilities. Simon Balle School were fully committed to investing in these new modern toilet blocks which future-proofed them for generations to come. They also did not want to wait until the next summer holidays to complete the work.The SolutionBrookhouseUK, having created a strict methodology for term time work, were able to refurbish both washrooms during term-time. We created a design which included demolishing the central dividing wall and installing new half-height partition walls using timber studs and hygiene wall cladding.Two new modern solid surface wash troughs sat on each side of the new walls which included automatic taps and automatic soap dispensers, vastly improving the facilities. Oak effect doors with contrasting dark IPS panels gave the washrooms a fresh, updated look.New automatic dryers were installed to complete the modernisation. Waddesdon School, a secondary school in Buckinghamshire, had issues with poor behaviour from students in their toilets and there was a shortage of girls toilets causing further problems to the schools. They approached Brookhouse for a solution.Our SolutionAfter visiting the school, our designers determined that the best solution was to create a open unisex washroom. By turning the washrooms into one washroom and creating an opening to the corridor meant that supervision and visibility into the area reduced the behaviour issues. This along with our unique school floor to ceiling cubicle system made in solid grade laminate and bolt through hardware, we were able achieve the durability required.
