Factory Tour to Look at the Production Process for the Manufacture of Bespoke Secondary Glazing

Selectaglaze Ltd

When it comes to bespoke manufacture there is no better way to learn what’s possible than seeing the fabricators at work. The Head of Production will take you through all the stages of the secondary glazing manufacturing process – from design, through to pre–assembly, assembly and timber workshop. You will be able to see various glazing and aluminium profile options and discover firsthand the unique timber sub-frames. You will see the workmanship and machines involved in the process as well as the focus on sustainability. You will be introduced to different showroom products ranging from slimline and mid-range to heavy duty and security. Seeing the quality processes in all the manufacturing stages to ensure that the end product meets the required performance levels, whilst integrating sympathetically with all the other building elements, should give you more confidence in specifying secondary glazing. The factory tour will be followed by a seminar option of your choice – ‘Secondary glazing – a retrofit solution to building sustainability’ or ‘Window protection through secondary glazing systems’.Contents:Guided tour of the bespoke manufacturing processDemonstration of showroom productsCPD seminar of your choice.

Secondary Glazing: The Retrofit Solution to Building Sustainability

Selectaglaze Ltd

Sustainable design is no longer a catchphrase, it’s an imperative. The need and urgency to update the existing building stock has never been greater and upgrading windows is one of the most challenging aspects of retrofit projects. This RIBA approved CPD helps you to navigate through all the aspects of secondary glazing specification. You’ll learn how to determine what’s right for you or your client’s needs, what design considerations to bear in mind and lots more. The CPD talks about typical applications and case studies and looks at how to maximize product performance such as U-values, acoustic insulation and security. It also covers all the important regulatory aspects and design considerations, with particular emphasis on Heritage and Listed Buildings. The aim is to give you confidence to design discreet, sympathetic treatments that meet the required performance levels and encourage you to involve your secondary glazing provider early on in the design process. You can book an online or in-person CPD. The in-person CPD can be held either at your office or in the company premises in St Albans. If you visit the St Albans office, a factory tour can be offered to give you an in-depth insight into the bespoke design and manufacture.Contents:·      How secondary glazing can help meet net zero and other sustainability commitments·      Thermal insulation and upgrades to Part L (including U-values)·      Control of noise with acoustic insulation (including dB ratings) ·      Window security (including blast, intruder, ballistic and fire) ·      Applications (including Listed and heritage buildings)·      Standards and regulations·      Specification process (including the range of products)·      Maintenance·      Economics.
