Application
Suitable for use as subsoil in general landscape applications, including trees, shrubs, and amenity grass. Additionally, the sample was evaluated for compliance with BS 8601– Specification for Subsoil, including potential contaminants.
Description
A strongly alkaline, non-saline, very slightly calcareous, virtually stone-free loamy sand with a single grain structure. The organic matter content was low, consistent with subsoil requirements. No contaminants were found at levels exceeding guideline values.
Based on these findings, the material is considered suitable for use as subsoil in landscaping projects, if plant species with a wide pH tolerance or those adapted to alkaline conditions are selected. It is advisable to assess the permeability rate to confirm adequate drainage performance.
Organic Matter (LOI): 1.5% w/w.
Stones (2–20 mm): 1% w/w DW.
