Application

Suited for the upgrade of existing buildings and for new buildings, particularly where exemplar levels of thermal performance are required.

Description

High-performance, lightweight external wall insulation (EWI) system based on enhanced expanded polystyrene (EPS) insulation that incorporates microscopic particles of graphite for enhanced thermal performance and to dissipate heat.


PermaRock Dry Dash provides a tough, durable, long-lasting and cost-effective finish for use with PermaRock EWI and PermaRend and PermaRock exterior render systems.

 

PermaRock Dry Dash comprises pre-washed and screened Dashing Aggregates which incorporate different types and colours of stones that are blended together and applied onto a specially formulated, self-coloured, polymer-enriched mineral-cement dash receiver, PermaRock Dashing Mortar (DM), which provides enhanced performance over traditional sand/cement renders.


PermaRock Dashing Mortar is a factory-batched, pre-coloured, dry-powder premix which requires mixing with water on site. It is available in a range of standard colours; Grey, White, Yellow, Cream, Red and Pink. For other colours please contact PermaRock.

Design considerations:

  • Thermal calculations can be carried out for each project to help to determine the thickness of insulation required to achieve U-value requirements.

 

Beads/ Trims/ Profiles:

  • A full range of beads, trims, sealing tapes, expansion joint tapes and window sealing strips (APU beads) is available to complete the design of the system.

PermaRock EPS-Premium Insulation (EPS100):

  •  Incorporates microscopic particles of graphite for enhanced thermal performance and to dissipate heat.
  • They are Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC)/ hydrochlorofluorocarbon (HCFC) free, zero Ozone Depletion Potential (zODP) and manufactured and supplied in accordance with BS EN 13163.
  • Declared thermal conductivity (λ90/90) Lambda: 0.030 W/m·K.


Thickness:

  • If required thickness is unknown, consult manufacturer for U-value calculations.
  • Should be between 20–300 mm, in 10 mm increments.

Adhesive

PermaRock adhesive.

Guidance for specification option:

  • A polymer-modified cement-based compound for bonding thermal insulation boards to new or existing concrete, masonry substrates as part of PermaRock External Wall Insulation (EWI) systems.

PermaRock lamella adhesive.

Guidance for specification option:

  • A polymer-modified cement-based compound for bonding thermal insulation boards to sheathing boards, CLT, or SIP substrates, as part of PermaRock External Wall Insulation (EWI) systems.

Additional mechanical fixings

Manufacturer guidance

The type, length and number of mechanical fixings (per board or per m²) required is dependent on the exposure (wind load) conditions.

In-situ pull-out tests are carried out to determine the pull-out resistance of fixings on a project-by-project basis.

Fixings should be used in combination with adhesive bonding of the insulation boards.

Consult manufacturer for recommendations.

  • Provide additional structural stability against wind suction and in the event of a fire.
  • The type, length and number of mechanical fixings required are dependent on the exposure (wind load) conditions.
  • In-situ pull-out tests are carried out to determine the pull-out resistance of fixings on a project-by-project basis.
  • Pull-through resistance is determined via laboratory testing.

  • Also known as dashing stones or pebble dashing. Traditional decorative rendering technique that provides a tough, durable, long lasting, cost-effective and almost maintenance-free finish to exterior wall surfaces.
  • Based on Dashing Mortar (DM), a specially formulated, self-coloured, polymer enriched mineral-cement offering enhanced performance over traditional sand/ cement renders into which pre-washed and screened Dashing Aggregates/ Stones are cast during the application process.

  • Colour: PermaRock Dashing Stones: 32 standard blends of natural aggregate stones, specially selected and blended for dry dashing, are available for use in combination with PermaRock Dashing Mortars. Other colour combinations can be manufactured, subject to minimum order quantity, or can be blended on site by the installer.
