Based in Broughton, North Wales, is the Airbus site responsible for the assembly of wings that are used on the commercial aircraft. Some of the main activities include wing box assembly, full wing equipping and wing skin milling. Once the wings are complete, they are transported to the final assembly lines in France.Alpha Rail was approached by Steve Walker Fencing Contractors Ltd, who got in touch after seeing packaged Alpha Rail products on a previous occasion at the Airbus site. There was a requirement to replace a number of low-level hoops around the car park area, which at around 500mm high were not very effective in creating a barrier to guide pedestrians. People were taking shortcuts over the hoops and tripping over them, creating a safety hazard as people could fall into the road.

Belton House was then overgoing a full regeneration of their car park, they wanted to create an ‘all-weather’ car park. Rushcliffe fencing was in charge of the railings and gates around the car park. They contacted us to see if we were able to provide what the client was looking for. They wanted us to provide them with Estate Railings to go around the new car park and replace the old timber fencing that was there before. The goal of this would be to make the car park more secure and fit the aesthetic of the area better.

Thomas Bow were in charge of the whole new regeneration project for Broadmarsh. The plan was to create an open, vibrant and welcoming space in the city for people arriving by bus. It would be an area with outdoor seating, outdoor cafes and places for children to play. Our role in this project was to manufacture and install flat bar railings onto a retaining wall and to steps.

Welded estate railings manufactured by Alpha Rail have been installed at a new residential housing development in Derbyshire called Deer Park.Located in what was known as the Butterley Estate, Deer Park is an entirely private housing development built on a former medieval hunting park.Ideally located, equidistant to both Nottingham and Derby via the A38 and the M1 road networks, Deer Park is situated near Ripley in the picturesque Derbyshire countryside.The new housing development will comprise of 30 three and four bedroom, semi-detached homes. The development will offer home buyers the best of both worlds, carefully combining modern living with traditional features.

Grosvenor and Hilbert Park which was first opened in 1889, is a popular recreational area. Located in Royal Tunbridge Wells, Kent, the park has two woodland areas and is classified as a local nature reserve. In 2016, it gained Heritage and Big Lottery Funding to renovate a number of key areas.The park is managed by Royal Tunbridge Wells Borough Council and Blakedown SE had been contracted to carry out the works.Due to the nature and scale of the restoration, the parks project has been shortlisted for a BALI award in the category for “Best Regeneration Scheme over £500k”.

The A5036 is one of the major trunk roads that lead into the Liverpool dockland area. Due to this road becoming increasingly busy, Highways England instructed works to upgrade the existing central reserve fencing.The scheme was undertaken by Metor Services Ltd, working for Colas Ltd under the Highways England Area 10 CWF contract, which involved the replacement of 1,932 linear metres of existing pedestrian guardrail.Alpha Rail was appointed by Metor Services Ltd to manufacture and supply 985No M2 Pedestrian Guardrail panels, which included special length panels to suit project requirements. This was the preferred product for Highways England as it is compliant with the British Standard BS7818, satisfying class 1 and 2. All materials were galvanised as standard to ensure a long lifespan and protection against corrosion. The purpose of the newly installed guardrail is to prevent pedestrians from crossing the busy highway that sees high volumes of traffic on a daily basis.

This route extends from Trafford Wharf to the shopping centre, with stops including Manchester United Football Club and the Imperial War Museum. Our role was to supply and install Pedestrian Parapet, Pedestrian Guardrail, railings, and handrails around the tram stations.

Alpha Rail has recently completed a metal railings project on a sustainable housing development in Newark, known as Parsons Mount. The development consists of 22 apartments that are designed to be as energy efficient as possible and be easily accessible by those with disabilities or limited mobility. The site also contains a refurbished listed building which will serve as accommodation for the warden as well as communal facilities.The apartment buildings meet the Level 4 criteria for the Code for Sustainable Homes, which is an environmental assessment method for rating and certifying the performance of new homes. It covers categories such as CO2emissions, waste and pollution.

St George’s Church is located in the heart of Leeds, close to the city hall and council chambers and has hundreds of visitors every week as part of its work within the local community. St George’s was designed back in the 1840s, and the surrounding parapet has a 15 foot drop on one side.The church council had recognised this as a potential danger and wanted to install railings to prevent visitors, especially children from falling from the parapet. In addition, groups of people often congregated around the area at night, presenting both a health and safety and security risk.

A proposal was put together by Ashfield District Council to improve Sutton Cemetery, building an extension to the rear of the existing cemetery on Jubilee Road. The new 4100sq metre site has a gated access leading to a parking area for those visiting graves. Alpha Rail’s Albany was specified by the client Ashfield District Council, by their Senior Regeneration Officer Paul Crawford to go around the perimeter of the site along with an ornate double leaf gate to match the railings, creating a secure but sophisticated looking boundary for visitors of the cemetery.The tender contract was subsequently awarded to Parkin Contractors Ltd, who appointed Alpha Rail to manufacture and supply approximately 120 linear metres of 1.8m high Albany railings and a 3.8m wide ornamental gate to match. All materials were hot dipped galvanised to BS EN ISO 1461 as standard followed by a polyester powder coated finish in RAL 9005 jet black.

This project involved developing a large Sustainable Urban Extension, and our role was to provide Optirail for a new junction as part of the new road construction.Project BriefLincoln City Council embarked on a major environmental scheme to construct a new road through an unused area. This development includes sports and leisure facilities, a local centre, and a primary school. Our task was to install Optirail at the new junction at the start of the new road.

Westhouses Primary School is a small village school which provides primary education to seventy children aged between 4 to 11. The school building is over 110 years old but is spacious and very well maintained. The present accommodation consists of a hall, three classrooms, library area, office, staff-room and a school meals kitchen.It has two main playgrounds and two grassed areas. There is also a large recreation ground next to the school which is used for sports and games.The school wanted to provide a dedicated play area for reception class children by building a new entrance door from their classroom directly into the playground and needed to provide a safe and secure boundary around this part of the play area.
