Application

Suitable for both commercial and domestic buildings where higher than usual loadings are expected, prior to the application of final floor finishes.

Description

Calcium sulfate based screed for use where higher than usual loadings are expected. It is a blend of Gyvlon binder, special additives and selected aggregates mixed with clean potable water to produce a pumpable, self smoothing, flowing screed (manufactured to BS EN 13813).

It is designed to provide a smooth level surface in both commercial and domestic buildings where higher than usual loadings are expected, prior to the application of final floor finishes and is particularly suitable for application as a floating screed and use in conjunction with under floor heating systems (where higher loadings are expected, special attention should be paid to the loading characteristics of the insulation being specified).

With the addition of Faster Drying (FD) and Early to Cover (E2C®) technologies, the installation of floor covering is achieved twice as fast as standard screeds; allowing tiles and vinyls to be laid safely from 1.5% MC, speeding up installations.

Features and benefits:

  • Avoids the need for reinforcement.
  • Easily achieves SR2 finish as described in BS 8204.
  • Environmentally friendly - recycled content of 98%, VOC free, 100% recyclable.
  • Excellent thermal conductivity.
  • Extremely low shrinkage - does not curl and minimises the risk of cracking.
  • Increased productivity - Up to 200 m²/ hour.
  • Large bay sizes of up to 800 m² depending on application (heated floors 300 m²).
  • Minimal thermal expansion (0.012 mm/mK).
  • Non combustible (tested to BS 476-4).
  • Protein free - cannot harbour harmful bacteria.
  • Self compacting.
  • Self curing.
  • Significantly reduced thickness when compared to traditional sand/ cement screed.
  • Weight saving as a result of thinner section.
  • Can be walked on in 24-48 hours.
  • Can be force dried as early as 7 days after application.
  • Flow 240 mm (± 10 mm).

Primer:

Requires priming prior to application of adhesives; generally acrylic dispersion or water based epoxy.

Product Options:

Sub base:

Gyvlon screeds are suitable for application to most types of sub bases, demonstrating an excellent degree of dimensional stability (maximum shrinkage/ expansion on drying of 0.02%) when compared to traditional sand/ cement based screeds.

Thickness (minimum):

  • Bonded: 25 mm.
  • In contact with substrate: 30 mm.
  • Unbonded: 30 mm.
  • Floating commercial: 40 mm.
  • Floating domestic: 35 mm.
  • Underfloor heating: 25 mm (30 mm nominal) cover to pipes, heating elements.

Drying time:

  • Dries at a rate of 1 mm per day up to a screed depth of 40 mm in good drying conditions.
  • Can be walked on in 24-48 hours.
  • Can be loaded after 7 days.
  • Can be force dried as early as 7 days after application.
