Application

Suitable for use direct as a maintenance coat to bare or sound previously painted non-combustible substrates where the upgrading properties of a Thermoguard basecoats are not required.

Description

Flame retardant, oil-based finish to protect, seal and decorate over Thermocoat WI, WO and WS or two coats of Timbercoat for 30 or 60 minutes. 


Thermoguard Flame Retardant Topcoat assists in the control of fire hazards caused by combustible materials such as wood and paint in buildings by releasing a flame extinguishing gas upon contact with fire.

  • Fire tested to BS 476 part 7: Class 1 surface spread of flames and Part 6: Fire propagation.
  • Maintains Class 0 fire resistance on primed non-combustible surfaces. 


Application:

  • Over similar colour - one coat of Thermoguard Flame Retardant Paint at 8 m²/L.
  • Over contrasting colour - Two coats of Thermoguard Flame Retardant Paint at 10 m²/L.
  • External - Two coats at 10 m²/L.
  • Applied by brush, roller or conventional spray.

Manufacturer guidance

  • For high opacity colours, coat has a coverage of 8 m²/L.
  • For poor opacity colours, major colour change, metallic finish or external application, two coats has a coverage of 10 m²/L.
