Application

For use in all areas including applications in coastal areas.

SPAX A4 stainless steel full thread 'construction use' screws are the solution for various joinery projects using wood.

Description

The full thread construction screw with universal applications for use in all areas including coastal.

Features and benefits:

  • T STAR plus bit recess.
  • Pre-drilling recommended.
  • 4CUT point ensures safe fastening with low effort, reduces splitting of the wood and reduces the screwing-in torque required.
  • Quick and safe fastening.
  • Mills into the wood.
  • Countersinks easily.
  • Fix close to an edge.
  • A2 grade screws also available, specified separately.

The special power drive – T-STAR plus – is a so-called hexalobular socket. Compared to less precise drive types such as Philips or Phillips, the contact surface of our T-STAR plus is significantly larger, and the T-STAR plus bits always fit perfectly in the screw head. The resulting optimal, precise power transfer from screwdriver to screw with the T-STAR plus enables simple and extremely fast work, and is significantly more efficient than with any other drive.

The countersunk head (or flat countersunk head) is the most commonly used head geometry in the SPAX universe. It has a tapered shape and, at SPAX, is designed as a 90° MULTI head. The countersunk head screws offer the optimal compromise between maximum resistance to the resulting head pull-through forces and the most discreet and attractive screw connection possible. With its polygonal underside ("pockets"), the countersunk head mills its own recess into the wood, allowing it to be optimally countersunk into the wood without additional countersinking of the screw hole, and then sits flush with the surface.

In contrast to a partial thread, the full thread on most of SPAX’s full-thread screws extends the entire length, or almost the entire length, from the tip to the head. The more threads a screw has, the greater the tensile and compressive forces it can absorb. We take advantage of this, especially in structural timber construction, where full-thread screws are used for heavy-duty wood connections.

The CUT tip of SPAX screws allows for extremely fast and effective screwing in of the wood screws without pre-drilling. The arrow-shaped CUT tip, combined with the wave profile, reduces splitting and cracking of the wood. Furthermore, the CUT tip enables very precise and non-slip application of the screw tip, even on smooth surfaces.

Screws in the A4 stainless steel category can basically do everything that an A2 stainless steel screw can do. The higher alloy, denoted by the number 4, also makes these screws acid and seawater resistant. This means that A4 stainless steel screws are particularly suitable for coastal regions. There, a normal A2 stainless steel screw would begin to rust after a while due to the high salt content in the air or water. Chlorinated water also contains acid, so this is important to consider if you're planning a wooden deck around a garden pool.
